Although it can become a bit repetitive, it does well the job as historical satire and comedy. The voice acting and the OST were really good and original, love me some Bri'ish accent.

The epitome of a single-sitting game. Though I will confess to not fully grokking the sign-reading mechanics, nor how they relate to the LA-Noire-esque conversation puzzling, Astrologaster is still a game chock-full of reactive gameplay, wry humor, and a banger (well, as much as one could describe light choral plays a "banger") soundtrack.

This theatrical choose-your-own-adventure is an unfortunate case of style over substance. As a storytelling method, the pop-up book visuals and rousing choirs really set the mood in this humorous doctor's practice. As a game, however, the choices are oft confusing and feel scattershot with no real payoff. Mayhaps it's an issue of not seeing the forest through the trees. Alas, the stars say it's a bit daft.

Completed with 100% of achievements unlocked (1,000G). A fairly simple visual novel with a fantastic sense of humour, I had a great time with Astrologaster. The game follows the activities of 16th/17th-century astrologer/doctor Simon Forman, primarily via the consultations with his patients (or 'querents', as he calls them in-game). Interactivity comes from selecting the appropriate 'reading of the stars' to diagnose each patient's troubles (not solely medical!) and while there's often a 'best' reading in terms of the reputation score that each querent holds for Simon, the game progresses caters well for any selection. The game really excels in its writing and the presentation of its eclectic cast of characters - the brief choral introductions to each consultation are a particular joy - and the premise becomes all the more intriguing upon learning that Simon Forman was a real historical figure and the game's events are loosely based on his case books.

This was alright. My main issue with it is that it got old extremely quickly. The singing was cute, though.

1000 cliques no mouse por 1000G no xbox!

The art style is super neat and I loved the pop-up book theme throughout, along with the singing whenever a querent would come in. The game just didn't capture my attention.

A pretty fun dialogue-heavy game that I think goes for a bit too long.

It's fun to try and figure out what's wrong with characters and help them with their lives, but the gameplay almost always is the same throughout your journey and by 3 hour mark I was getting really bored. The humor is usually quite good, but wasn't enough for me to try different options. However, some jokes and entire characters just didn't work for me.

I feel like it would benefit from a shorter storyline, as it's already brimming with replayability thanks to each segment providing multiple choices.

I had to play this for a class. I think this game has a good art direction but something about it feels... off. I'm not sure if the intention is random guessing things or if you're supposed to come into the game with knowledge of astrology and medicine and stuff but I always felt like I was taking shot after shot in the dark.

How a game like that does not have save points.

A nice little choose-your-own-adventure game set in Elizabethan England. It's often funny, and very human; all your patients have their own stories to tell that you play a part in. Plus, the many short songs introducing the characters are delightful. A playthrough will only take you a few hours, for better and for worse.

Play as a doctor who uses period medical knowledge and astronomy to diagnose, treat, and give life advice to his patients in a choose your own black comedy (and partial chorus musical) based on the life of Simon Forman. Gameplay involves choosing between 2-3 options with each visit and trying to gain the favor of patients for letters of recommendations to be given a real medical license. Well written, well acted, successful at being funny and a period piece with bits of contemporary satire.

What's your sign? I'm a Capricorn... and never once I saw my sign featured in this game. Quick 1,000GS tho.

really gorgeous game! as someone who studies astrology, this game does a really good job of incorporating it. main character is VERY unlikable though, but maybe that's just because of the choices i picked?
