An ordinary rail shooter with a Zombie theme.

Was literally unplayable on keyboard but I can’t in good faith give it a 0.5 considering it at least seems structurally and fundamentally sound.

SNK takes a dive to the "showy" era of arcade games, when they became more about how they looked than how they played. As expected from previous SNK experiences, this feels like a competent but very conservative to a new genre, rather than a conscious effort to push it forward. It's a shame that they never tried something like Ozma Wars again, because they clearly knew how to innovate at times.

Playing on the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection on PC, all I could think about is how great this would have been to play with mouse compatibility and with two friends. Unfortunately while playing, SNK forced controller joystick controls and I have the chilling realisation that I have no friends.

I went into this with pretty low expectations and I was surprised to see this was actually a pretty decently fun and kinda charming light gun game. It's not doing much to reinvent the wheel in terms of gameplay. It's very much what you'd expect. The enemy designs though are far from what you'd expect. Zombies packing heat. Near naked Jason Voorhees's twins. A zombie car. This game is really creative with it's enemies as well as being a visual treat with all the detailed sprites and impressive pixel gore for the time. It even has destructible environments in some levels! Definitely play this with a friend if you want something neat to play to pass some time.

A mostly by the book light-gun title, Beast Busters is most fun with friends to whittle the massive enemy wave sizes down with. I would have rated it a little lower for the sheer number of enemies on screen at a time making it near impossible to clear segments without damage, but the ENEMY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY IS SO GOOD.

This zombie is a sentient car! This bird has a glock! This man is like a flesh brontosaur. 10/10 enemy designs.

Pretty fun light gun game with really cool pixel art gore and body horror. Would be even more fun with another person, as well as less bullshit difficult. Played through the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, and while this is unrelated to the game itself, I wish that collection had more control options for this game (like the ability to use mouse).
