Very simple beat up that starts really bad but ends surprisingly well.
The presentation is very cool for something before David Production just going all out in adapting Araki way of working with colors ands panels and the story is told really well, even more with you having the chance of winning some fights Jonathan didn't win in the manga and seeing how it would turn if he kicked the ass of the dude. The combo system is fun to use and wen you get hamon everything becomes more fluid and you feel the power of your punchs way more. The biggest problem of the game is the camera, a game without a lock on is okay but one with a bad camera and without a lock on becomes a nightmare very quickly. Thanks god the game is short to the point none of the problems really hurt the experience.
Definitely a fun time for a JoJo fan

visually its very nice, and it was a decent way to revisit Part 1 since i havent experienced it in 6 years. i was very surprised to see that you even get to play as Straizo for a mission. the Dio's perspective mode is a cool bonus, and the 77 Rings mode is an even cooler bonus for people that read the manga. they even made up designs for the other 3 knights you never get to see be actual characters.
now unfortunately this game fucking sucks to play, so why would i bother with those once i trudged through the main story? it is one of many ps2 beat-em ups where 3 guys just beat you down and never let you get a hit in until you get lucky. Bruford's underwater fight might just be one of the worst boss fights i have ever played, you really have to just land every hit you can since there's barely enough time to defeat him, and if you're not angled right when blocking, his attack can just send you flying away, leaving you too far to do any damage in time before he starts his swimming loop again. if you miss him like 2 times then just start over. the Jack the Ripper fight is also extremely frustrating because of the infinitely spawning zombies chasing you while you chase Jack.
its a neat little thing that exist, but its probably best just watched than played. i really considered giving up during the Bruford fight but i kept going since it was already so close to being over.

It's awful and I hate that fact given how much I love the source material.
Everything I liked about 2002's Golden Wind is absent from this game, replaced with more awkward, clunky, and frustrating alternatives.
Even after unlocking Hamon abilities, which does make the combat less frustrating, the game then decides to find new ways to annoy and frustrate because apparently fun wasn't the goal here.

Welcome to the Dio beating simulator. you fight with a guy, then two fights with Dio and so on in a circle. The gameplay itself is monotonous and extremely primitive. Hit a lot to hit harder. I liked the fact that the Persians have different costumes in every battle, you don't often see this, even though it's a small thing. However, I came here to feel the confrontation, a kind of action from the battles of pumped-up gentlemen one on one, and this is tight here.
I gave it a 3 because it is mediocre but there's some weird OTG stuff and broken combos here and there that are a lot of fun to exploit. There are far more moves than you would need to use and some have some weird interactions that don't feel super well-thought out. If you're an experimenter who likes jank, this game is more like a 4-star game for being a curious look into what half-baked systems can result in.
Also honestly really great if you're a fan of the first Jojo's arc, it shows it all.
