Disgustingly adorable, wonderful little goblin game where you run around as a cute little kitty causing mischief and trouble.

Played the demo for this last year in a Steam demofest, and I must say I'm sort of disappointed that said demo wound up being almost half the final game itself. Cute, silly, charming, a little bit janky, and disappointingly short. I do think you could make an argument the simple gameplay would wear thin over too long a game, but I can't help but feel something is just missing here.

wonderfully charming, disappointingly short

This game rewards exploring and interacting as a cute silly cat

just being a silly little kitty goofing around a cozy recreation of Japanese suburbia

They fully leaned into the millennial cute cat memetics, and honestly, it sort of works. It's a very cute game that doesn't really try to do much else aside from being cute. And that's alright.

I do feel that these kinda of cutesy/wholesomy kind of games often ends up feeling a bit substance-less and fast food-y; And LKBC isn't immune to that; but honestly, that's also fine. I was reading a tweet by the devs about how they made sure that the game didn't have anything scary or morbid in it, because they wanted very young children to be able to enjoy it, and I think that's cool and good.

I unno, it's short and cute and I enjoyed it and I wish I could have a cat but I'm not allowed one in my apartment.

I am not immune to cataganda.

Little Silly, Cute Kitty

I'm a cat owner and have been for the last sixteen or so years of my life. My first cat was an all black football cat named Lurkey. This was a name given by my father because our large lad spent the first year of his life with us after moving in from the frigid outdoors living in the shoe room only emerging from his cave to eat and use the litter. Lurkey passed and my parents obtained a new cat via the cat distribution system while I was away in college, her name was Esme and she was also a black cat with a shame reminiscent of a pigskin. I write this all to say that I have a long love for black cats, and Little Kitty Big City is playing right into its target demographic here... a gamer with a cat who grew up with black cats.

My ferocious feline, named Albert Whisker (yes RE fans that's for you,) began to maul at my screen as SOON as I started Little Kitty, Big City. Maybe upset he isn't getting the same adventure in my humble apartment as our purring protagonist gets in a bustling (presumably) Japanese city, but that's neither here nor there. LKBC gives you one simple objective as the procatonist: get home after a tragic fall leaves you... not home! What gives the game a runtime as long as you want is the world filled with a plethora of collectibles, objectives, and animals to meet and converse with around town. The humor is endearing, a continuous hide and seek match with a chameleon comes to mind here, and the charm of interaction with your surroundings is endless. The environment is easy to make your way around and becomes immediately familiar to the player after a few rounds. I commend the dev team for knowing how to stack things inside such a small area to make it fun and traversal not feel like you're spinning in circles through the same area.

Ultimately this is a short game without too many bones to stand on, but it was fun for the couple hours I ran through the "main story" and putzed around side objectives. I had a few bugs that I couldn't really call frustrating because well... look at the game, but they were a bit annoying when trying to time or prepare jumps that faltered right away. I only had to reload a save once after being stuck in a stool but again, I only lost about a minute or two of progress. Game Pass was the right price for LKBC, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it. I'd recommend to anyone with a subscription or people who just really like cats, it's a fun one.

The game is basically what your cat does when they're not home.

A clunky yet charming game. It's very short, especially if you're only going to complete the main goal. There is side content to complete, but it mostly feels busy work since it's mostly fetch-quest or collectable related.
That doesn't make it a deal breaker, since the charm of the game does help and it's enjoyable to run around as a cat in a small but very detailed world.

This game is so adorable!! Having a checklist of achievements to go through makes galloping through the sandbox have more of a purpose, and walking around and smacking stuff as a cat is just the cutest thing! I wish the game was a little longer or had more quests, as I completed all of the achievements in a little over 4 hours, but I will definitely be replaying this with my girlfriend, who is probably one of the main demographics for this game. If you have Game Pass, this is definitely a must play if you want a comfy fun game!

Need more games of being an asshole as an animal

They are my peak fiction

The only thing stopping me from giving Little Kitty, Big City a perfect score is that I think it's a little rough around the edges. There are some noticeable bugs (though nothing that truly impeded progress in any way), and some puzzles could use a little more signposting (especially towards the end of the game.)

It's quick to finish, but lengthy if you go for 100%. Some tasks can be a little repetitive or "tedious" depending on the player, but I was so charmed by it that nothing ever really got under my skin. I think the game would've benefited from a more interactable map, too, just because of how often I've wound up retracing my steps. I'm genuinely happy to keep going back to it, though! And I'm probably gonna buy it a second time on another platform, just 'cuz I find it worthy of the double-dip. It's everything I wished Stray would've been—colorful, wholesome, happy, and pacifist at its very core.

Genuinely a better cat game than Stray.

Very charming game, especially as someone who loves cats! It has incited comparisons to untitled goose game, and I think I had more fun with this game than that one, but they decidedly left me with kind of the same feeling. It’s very charming looks-wise, it’s fun going around doing cat stuff, but… the ‘fun’ of playing an animal and doing mischief just fades very, very quickly. I think this game has more cuteness going for it than Untitled Goose Game did, but it also has a lot more jank to it, which in this case I didn’t really mind since I never got stuck, but I was surprised by the sheer amount of it at times. Oh well, in any case, it’s cute, it’s nice, it’s fun and it’s pretty short, so you can’t go wrong with this one if you just want a catastic adventure.

I've been waiting for this game since it was announced.

It's a wonderful game: super chill, it encourages you to explore, climb... and do cat things

When I was getting the achievements there are a couple that are quite tedious and heavy, but for the rest, PLEASE TRY THEM even if you don't go 100% like me

Like a moth drawn to a flame, I'm frequently drawn to these "cozy" casual indie games.
Little Kitty, Big City is a buggy title. They were frequent and while none I encountered were game breaking they were the most noteworthy part of the experience. Aside from these technical flaws the game is quite dull. Repetitive fetch quests for characters with borderline ridiculous amounts of dialogue.

The appeal of mucking around as a cat is undercut by tedious objectives and a distinct lack of polish. I think this would be a decent game for young children but I don't think there's anything here for an adult.

Realistically, Little Kitty, Big City is probably a 6/10, maybe a 7/10. It's not doing anything particularly new or interesting. The platforming is rote and sticky, it's buggier than it should be, the music is nondescript amd it's very short (maybe three hours if you're not going for all the achievements. Counterpoint: cats are cute and I like them.

Perhaps that sounds like I'm being deliberately facetious, dismissing any possible criticisms of the game with flippancy. But I honestly believe that the theming and charm of Little Kitty elevates a flawed and generally average game to an experience that had me consistently smiling for four hours.

I've resisted the temptation to compare Little Kitty to Stray so far, but it's a comparison that is as necessary as it is inevitable. Where Stray felt like a pretty bogstandard linear adventure game with the idea of a feline protagonist added in later, Little Kitty's design document is probably just the word "CAT!" written over and over. Every interaction in the game is designed to evoke true kitty immersion and it works. From a varied selection of cat nap spots, the ability to catch (and release safely) birds, the ability to knock fragile things off of shelves, all of these and more combine to provide a deeply entertaining digital depiction of an animal's whole vibe akin to what Untitled Goose Game did for geese.

Overall, Little Kitty, Big City is a fine game. Its building blocks are nondescript, but the sheer amount of charm pushes it to a higher level than you'd expect. I do still wish the game was a little bigger and that its moment to moment interactions were more varied, but in the end, I had a great time and I will likely think back on Little Kitty a lot as time goes by. If you adore cats, then you've probably already bought this.

Expecting a competitor to "Stray" from a former Valve developer, we actually get the another low-polygonal "Untitled Goose Game" (even at this level the cartoonish visuals are spoiled by the red outlines of all models why?), this is a good platformer-collectathon, and here at least you can jump on the ledges yourself, The mechanics are not very dynamic and smooth, but when you get used to it, it’s still quite pleasant, but this opens the way to technical problems of the game - there are a lot of places where you can abuse the system by overjumping in inaccessible spaces, for ex. I lost the opportunity to complete the quest with the phone, because I didn’t pull the box out of the hole in the wall, and on the other side it was already impossible to get there. Because of this, it’s not always clear where you can jump and you can even run into an invisible wall and fall from some kind of roof (you can’t walk on wires either, although for some reason you can on very thin ledges), one time I actually flew through the wall, also from little things: people get stuck, and once I had a can stuck between a trash and a vending machine, but I managed to get it back to put it in trash - this is also a strange mechanic, because recycling cans allows you to farm a lot of shiny things, this very monotonous, but I want “money”, at the same time I opened all the purchasable hats, accumulating more than 100 pieces of garbage in stock, why did I do this? - You catch yourself asking this question, it`s not a tech. problem, but also a kind of ill-conceived game design,

Naturally, there is no depth in the mechanics, the gameplay - is fetch something, sneak up, stroke, knock a person down, lie in the sun, and a lot of repetition tasks, a standard set of what you can imagine in a game about a cat, in Stray there was no depth of gameplay either, but there were many other unique features,
and Little Kitty simply has nothing to highlight and nothing to recommend - only if you are a fan of opening platinum in cartoon worlds of standard quality,
I still expected more from the former Valve developer, I wanted a real challenge to other animal games, and not just another “cozzy” indie eexploiting the cat theme (although personally, even the main cat model doesn’t seem cute to me),
For certain types of tasks, you will only improve your climbing skill, which will allow you to climb higher on buildings, eventually climb back to the window of your apartment and complete the story, once again having a final conversation with the current set of animal characters, there seems to be good humor in the dialogues, most of the game can be completed in 5 hours, thanks to Xbox Game Pass, because the price on Steam cannot be considered a plus either,

p.s. By the way, here you can slide down the wall with your claws and jump in the other direction (like the mechanic of jumping from wall to wall), but I found the use of this only once on the final building, why at least this mechanic was not used a couple of times??

Fun game with plenty to do. Really makes you feel like a kitty exploring. My one issue is the climbing could be a bit janky resulting in leaping off of walls randomly and losing progress. Aside from that though, a delight from start to finish.

I really enjoyed LKBC, it's a fun time although a tad short for my liking. Running around as Kitty is an enjoyable time and it really feels like playing like a cat! Story-wise it's nothing too crazy, but the game has some really funny conversations between characters and some cheeky references too, which I enjoyed quite a lot!

Such a cute game! It's quite short, but I enjoyed every minute of it. It's actually a pretty simple game, you basically have to find your way home, but you keep getting distracted along the way. :-)
