How did they think this was okay before release?

A decent start. Glad Coconut Mall and Sky Garden are back.

As expected, a mixed bag: yes you've got Tour Paris Promenade (a new classic), GBA Sky Garden is brisk and pretty, Toad Circuit is a perfectly fine starter course, and Shroom Ridge remains underrated as fuck. But you've also got the weakest version of Coconut Mall which just makes you wish you could play the 3DS or Wii versions, a completely bastardized N64 Choco Mountain, Ninja Hideaway is alright I guess but I'm sorry Tour Tokyo Blur just feels mid to me. And as everybody else has all rightfully mentioned, this looked mostly like crap when it came out compared to the base game - and even though I'm glad they were cleaned up a bit since then I still think Tour's visuals are really unappealing even when upscaled here. Still fun to race on most of these tracks but it's a shaky start.

Yikes what a letdown. After 5 years of nothting, the first thing we get is low quality ports of tracks from Tour. And I must empathize low quality. Tracks like Toad Circuit and Shroom Ridge (visually at least) look like actual play-dough, and while others like Paris Promenade and Choco Mountain look alright, they’re still a far cry from the look of the base game. Not to mention that Coconut Mall got nerfed big time. Ninja Hideaway is a really fun track, but It can’t carry the rest of the tracks for me unfortunately. On the bright side, the music still kicks ass, especially that Shroom Ridge remix, but otherwise, this first wave left a lot to be desired.

The first wave is fine, just fine. There are some standout tracks like Ninja Hideaway, but other than that, the track selection for the first two cups ranges from decent to meh

The Wii version of Coconut Mall is still the superior version, and that's just facts

A decent selection of courses with some duds like Paris Promenade, Toad Circuit and the worst course in the game Tokyo Blue. But The rest are really good so its still overall a fun addition and worth playing.

Se salva por pocas pistas, en verdad que los gráficos dejan mucho de desear y escogieron algunos circuitos básicos como el de Toad o el de chocolate.
DLC completado al 100%.

Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe offers a solid start to the DLC experience. This wave brings a mix of classic and modern tracks to the game, featuring courses like Paris Promenade from Tour, Toad Circuit from 3DS, Choco Mountain from N64, Coconut Mall from Wii, Tokyo Blur from Tour, Shroom Ridge from DS, Sky Garden from GBA, and Ninja Hideaway from Tour. Each track offers an enjoyable racing experience, though some missed opportunities are evident. In particular, the absence of anti-gravity sections in Coconut Mall's ramp area and Sky Garden leaves players craving for the added thrill of these unique features. While the track selection is generally decent, it could have been improved by swapping out Toad Circuit for Shy Guy Bazaar due to minor texturing issues in Toad Circuit, and replacing Shroom Ridge with Luigi's Mansion to maintain diversity within the Booster Course Pass, especially with Moonview Highway's inclusion later in the pass.

One noteworthy aspect of this wave is the graphics, which, while not terrible, do leave room for improvement. Texturing issues make some of the tracks feel like they were copied and pasted from Mario Kart Tour, failing to match the high standards set by the base game. As a result, the overall experience is slightly compromised, and the tracks don't quite live up to the visual excellence of the original game.

Wave 1 Score: 6.6/10

Realmente a Wave 1 é meio mediana, sem nenhuma pista suuuuper interessante, por mais que goste do visual de quase todas. Nada de anti-grav ainda me impressiona até hoje.

BEST: Tour Paris Promenade, Wii Coconut Mall, GBA Sky Garden
WORSE: DS Shroom Ridge, Tour Tokyo Blur

Yeah, I’m not even gonna lie, this was lackluster as all fuck. The visuals look fucking ugly, especially compared to the base game, you can tell that they just lazily ported over the Tour versions of these and put next to no effort into making them look good. As for the actual track choices? Awful, who in the fuck thought Toad Circuit was more worthwhile than Shy Guy Bazaar or Wuhu Loop???? Shroom Ridge is a silly ass choice as well, why not go with Mushroom Bridge or even Mushroom City, or especially Toad’s Factory? Tokyo Blur wasn’t a good choice either, such a lackluster and empty feeling track to go with, odd since I can think of a few Tour tracks that honestly deserved to be here instead. And my god, they absolutely butchered Coconut Mall and Sky Garden, it’s actually comical how worse they are compared to the previous counterparts. Now, are they any good things? Well, Choco Mountain is fantastic here, it’s definitely my favorite version of this track. Paris Promenade is a neat introduction and I really liked the Paris themed music and aesthetics, and I fucking loved Ninja Hideaway, that was easily the most fun I had with Wave 1. Overall, not bad per say but very disappointing, thankfully the future waves got way better than this

Not a terrible start, it had coconut mall which was a stand out. Good thing most packs are better

could be better but Coconut Mall is here

NGL for opening up this new DLC season pass for mario kart 8 they really started with mostly dingers. Most of the courses look visually bland and homogenized to look more like modern mario than the art style of mario kart 8, and the courses themselves are pretty standard fare. Ninja hideaway is a really strong track, but in exchange they did coconut mall dirty.
