Drayano is a mastermind when it comes to their romhacks. This is just platinum but better in basically every way. There is just more to do and its more fun. Its that simple, and any die hard pokemon fan needs to give their hacks a try. Its sometimes hard to go back to the base games when you are spoiled by these

This is the best Pokémon game, hands down. It takes one of the best games gamefreak made, and adds every good thing gamefreak has ever done without any of the terrible parts. The balancing makes the gameplay far more interesting, but doesn’t turn it into a grind like other romhacks. This is how one should play gen 4.

I am already Pokemon Platinum's strongest warrior, but this hack brought Sinnoh to the next level. It has a wonderfully wide selection of pokemon to catch, much more challenging and deliberately designed bosses, and the additional content as well as the optional patches to buff weaker pokemon and increase the game speed really helped this hack create its own identity separate from vanilla Sinnoh.
My only complaints are that the start and end of the game have some unnecessary level jumps (which I found especially annoying in the early-game since you don't unlock the Blissey training room until the mid-game) and sometimes fourth wall breaks from NPCs really took me out of the game and made me groan a bit.
I strongly recommend this excellent game to any Pokemon fans who aren't afraid of a little challenge.

Combine this with the Following Pokemon patch, play it with the uncapped 60 FPS, and voila, you now have the true Sinnoh remake.

realizing that my favourite pokemon gen has a pretty dogshit 2nd half of the game....

this is the only rom hack ive played so i dont have any others to compare it to but this has GOT to be one of the best. reignited my love for porygon-z

Best way to experience Platinum. The only way this would be better is if it used gen. 5's engine, with the moving sprites.

Drayano Hacks are always good. One of the best mainline pokemon titles but even better. Friends picked my team, so I had a bunch of slow shitters but still loved it nonetheless.

Pokémon fans will look at the same trainer with the same team using the same moves but 15 levels higher and think "Damn, now that's how difficulty in games should be handled".

the best way to play gen 4, and get everything out of it. what was once lost as time limited events, are now part of an expanded experience, that creates the foundation for what is the perfect modernization of a decade old RPG. nobody does it like dray.

Giving every single trainer like 3+ pokemon makes the game more annoying than hard

A very strong rom hack. The fact that you can get every Pokémon available is such a good thing! It was pretty difficult but not too much, it does a great job at finding the right difficulty. I also really liked all the new events, making all the roads used throughout the game or just giving the possibility to catch Ice types way earlier than usual. The speed up patch made the game so fun too!
I played the classic version, might try the complete one someday, but I definitely think it makes Platinum way better than it already was!

a lil better than platinum

Me lo estaba pasando bien, pero de repente los bichos me sacaban +10 niveles.

Com certeza melhor que o original, mas mesmo assim não consegue salvar sinnoh de ter personagens meio boca e uma DEX regional duvidosa

Improves on the Pokemon variety problem that the original had with better fights as well as QOL features like infinite TMs and such. Unfortunately it's still Platinum whether you like it or not. If there were any improvements to the engine they are hard to notice, HMs are still the worst, level curve is still annoying, the hack specifically bloats a lot of the game, etc. I do feel confident calling this the best way to experience Sinnoh, though.

Gen 4 but actually good, well done Drayano!

The best way to play sinnoh

It took me many years of avoiding this game due to lack of accessibility or disinterest since the community praise was always kinda suffocating. When Dryano released this hack I thought it was the right time to give it a chance, and with the following mechanic and the fps cap gone even on original hardware it was almost perfect.

With the release of Brilliant Diamond and Shinning Pearl the discourse that Renegade Platinum was the best way to experience Sinnoh got even louder, it was now or never. And the weren't wrong.
Renegade is THE Pokemon game to play on this day and age. It is hard but gives all the tools to make it fun. Competitive items, improved stats for each pokemon until Sinnoh, fairy type, new methods of evolution for trade pokemon, new events, new teams for all npcs, new randomized teams for elite 4, smarter AI, less HMs needed to progress and THE BIGGEST improvement of them all: An npc to train, evs, ivs and experience.

Truly an fun, challenging game indeed. If you were kinda let down with the current stage of the franchise, PLEASE play Renegade, it will make you fall in love with pokemon all over again.

Mi cara cuando dificultad artificial

If you grew up on Pokemon Platinum, then you are required by some form of law to have some form of unhealthy attachment to it. It has, and will likely always will be my favourite Pokemon game. It is something that can't really be replicated, the way this game captures its region through the incredible sprite work and music is truly second to none. And the nicest thing I can say about Renegade Platinum is that it made me feel like I was playing it again for the first time.

Don't think this game gets enough credit for how it adds just enough extra stuff to make the pacing of a regular Platinum playthrough that much more exciting. This is still Platinum at the end of the day, but the changes here are just enough to make it fresh and exciting again. Building a big team of newly revamped mons, as well as Platinum staples was a blast, and playing with a bunch of friends watching really highlighted the experience. This is the best way of playing the best Pokemon game, and I think the fact that a rom hack is so high quality that many pull from it before the base game speaks to how great this is. Superb stuff.

Pokemon Platinum is a game that means a lot to me. It's the first video game I remember playing. I love almost everything about it. The music, the atmosphere and the region. The Pokemon you can catch and all of the endless things you can do in the game. But it wasn't a perfect game, I admit that even with all of my biases. The game engine is notoriously slow, the region is absolute HM overload. It for some reason, didn't contain all of the version exclusives from Diamond and Pearl. Fuck you if you want Honchkrow or Mismagius I guess. But overall, Platinum is an incredible game that holds a lot of sentimental value to me. I was comfortable calling it my favorite game ever made.

Until I played Renegade Platinum.
This is undoubtedly the definitive way to play my favorite game ever made. It fixes every little thing bringing that game down. HMs are almost completely gone now, minus a few absolutely necessary ones that unfortunately need to be there for the game to progress. (Rock Climb, Surf and Waterfall)
Every single Pokemon is now obtainable which allows for even more team variety in a region that's sorta infamous for not having a lot of unique teams. Several Pokemon are given complete facelifts, changing types, abilities, stats and movesets, which means you can basically use any team in this game and you could still beat the game with it. There are several Pokemon that you wouldn't even consider using in the base games that become genuinely viable late game team members. It certainly got me to use Pokemon I've never used before because of how shitty they were before.
This game excels in it's quality of life improvements.
TMs are (essentially) infinite now, no longer only limited to one Earthquake TM for your entire team. There's other neat additions such as obtaining every Poketch app, the running shoes and the bike right at the beginning. There's even a damn speedup patch to make the game run at 60fps and drastically speed up the game (Without speeding up the music which is great)

But I think where this game shines the most is its enhancements to the difficulty. As someone who knows the original game like the back of my hand, the newly revamped teams of every trainer help greatly in making the game feel fresh again. It also helps that the game is genuinely really difficult and can fuck you up pretty hard if you don't know what you're doing. If only the official games could have that level of difficulty rather than being braindead A button mashers. There's also just a bunch of cool extra fights that weren't there before. There's an event in the Backlot Mansion that's entirely original. There's random fights with Elite Four and Frontier Brains sprinkled throughout the main story. Cyrus uses Dialga and Palkia in a double battle during his final encounter. There's a damn 12v12 on Spear Pillar.

Even with the few negatives there are, they're basically just nitpicks that the creator couldn't really do anything about.
Like I said before, some HMs are still required. Surf, Waterfall and Rock Climb need to be taught to your Pokemon just because of how the maps are laid out in Sinnoh. Fly is also still a necessity just to get around, though not required.
A drawback with removing most HMs is that the old roadblocks needed to be replaced with new ones, such as random people just blocking the path for no reason like in newer games. I wish that these roadblocks just weren't here and that I could go through the game however I wanted, but it is understandable. You would have to scale everything to be doable in any order and enough effort went into this rom hack already. I just think it would be better.

Pokemon Renegade Platinum contains everything I loved about the original, but then fixes all of the issues, and then adds even more to make this the greatest Pokemon game of all time. I think it says a lot about this hack, that it basically made my favorite game ever made obsolete. This is my preferred way of playing from now on, especially combined with other mods such as Following Platinum, the Individual Color Variations mod, and the upcoming Gen 5 graphics mod (which looks absolutely stunning by the way).

Verdict: 10/10. Bravo Drayano! This is a way better Gen 4 experience than whatever ILCA shat out on Switch!

And that wraps up my review. I wanted to say more but I sorta just wrote this whole thing on the spot because I felt like it. I might redo this review, give more in-depth opinions on what makes this game so good in my eyes, but I might turn that into a YouTube video if I ever feel confident in my ability to make content. I might also make a BDSP review, ripping and tearing into that game, and chronicling every little thing that makes that remake such an insulting piece of garbage, but that's for another day, later down the line.

Thanks for reading my stupid garbage review.

Generally solid rebalance and I like how they implemented all the legendary events. The elite 4 is a pain though.

lovely drayano hack. play it if you can

one of the best vanilla Pokémon games combined with Drayano's improvements, higher difficulty, and other quality of life stuff.

not much else to say, you can't really go wrong with that.
