A cute game that lasts a little too long.

Visually it is a very cute and gorgeous. The songs are all bangers. The story is wholesome and cute.

Gameplay consists of light platforming, puzzle solving and music stages. Musics stages are fun. Although I feel would be frustrating if you are trying to get high ranks. Luckily, there are no failstates! Good on the devs for making it accessible. I also feel like it's a good decision so children can play it. It's a good parent and child game. Teaches kids some valuable lessons. It has a good message.

My biggest complaint is that the charm ware off after awhile. And when that happens, the game should ideally end. Except it does not and it goes on another hour or two. Not that big of a deal.

It's a cute game that is a solid one time play. Short enough to beat in one sitting or two. It's cute and has good music. But still a mid game.

A simple puzzle platformer that needed more time in the oven with repetitive rhythm mini-games and bland level design. The animations and visuals are a joy at least, with some truly zany characters and music sequences.

A charming, cozy little game full of character (the sprites and their consistently demented animations are top notch), but nothing else here that jumps out as spectacular, and parts of the late game feel very rushed and uninspired.

The story and characters are simple but serviceable for the atmosphere the game's going for, and a couple of emotional moments towards the end actually do feel earned. The art and music are all fairly endearing, especially during the rhythm sections. The game adds tracks to the background music organically as the player completes hidden tasks, which is a nice touch; however this means that one's first impression of a level is a very bare-bones piece of music, which feels like a problem in a game /about/ music.

The gameplay is very much a tale of two halves; the rhythm sections are consistently fun (albeit bloody difficult on keyboard), and I was impressed by the number of different ways they manage to present essentially the same minigame. The platforming, however, is kinda uninspired; its perfectly serviceable, don't get me wrong, but its a basic combination of flying on updrafts and pushing block puzzles. The level design starts off pretty strong but seems to fall off quite drastically in the latter half of the game. Some of the latter levels feel pretty phoned in: the secret puzzles to add more tracks to the music just stop about 2/3 of the way through, and the levels after this all feel a little bit sterile.

Despite this, its overall a cozy and sweet little game. Don't tell anyone I kinda liked it, it will ruin my 'I dont like cutesy' cred.

really genius in terms of its accessibility. making songs not actually have a fail state, so they don't get repetitive and you can still progress with the story, but having the REAL challenge being getting the S ranks, so everyone's happy here. the story, music and spritework all kick ass, too. very overlooked.

I really enjoy how much gaming variety this one offers. It has elements of Metroidvania, puzzler, (PaRapa) music pattern-controlled platforms with a lot of stage exploration, collecting feathers and music notes for progress. It's a very fun and relaxing game to unwind to at the end of the night.

Not just a rhythm game. It feels like they somehow successfully turned a musical into a video game and it works really well. Recommended this one for the music lovers. Cute little story too.

Some of the most adorable sprites I've seen. Songbird Symphony is about a little bird named Birb who's trying to find his family and where he belongs and, along the way, he sings songs with various different bird tribes.

It's setup like a metroidvania with boss fights that are essentially simon says rhythm sections. The songs are all cute and well produced, but the rhythm gameplay never felt satisfying to me. Maybe it's the fact that Birb's singing chirps all sound annoying, but I also felt that the rhythm elements felt imprecise regarding timing. I also may just be bad at it.

The rest of the gameplay involves collecting notes around the map. There's this cool thing where when you collect a note, it adds a layer of music to the OST of that level. So as you progress, the music gets more and more complex. It's a great touch. I found myself getting lost way too often though and the lack of a proper map really hurt the game for me.

Songbird Symphony is adorable. It's just not something I enjoyed as much as I wanted to.

Completed with platinum trophy earned. Songbird Symphony is a music-based puzzle platformer in which you play as Birb, an orphaned bird seeking to find his place in the world. As you navigate through each area, progression is based around solving simple music-based puzzles, typically requiring you to repeat a series of button presses to activate various devices - all leading up to climactic 'boss' sequences that see Birb taking part in a extended sing-/dance-off, again based around repetition of button presses. The songs are consistently catchy, making these sequences great fun, and differing presentation of the button sequences (e.g. falling, circling or flashing note indicators) brings a sense of variety - making these great fun. From about half-way through the game it gets very challenging to score well, but fortunately there's no minimum threshold for progression - avoiding the potential for frustration but still allowing score-chasing for those so inclined.

While fairly short (expect somewhere around 4-6 hours for 100% completion, with expressive, brightly-coloured pixelart, endearing characters and an simple but uplifting story, this is very much a feel-good game and gets my recommendation.
