Wofür man halt so Sonic spielt.

It has a Double Jump, so I have to give it +1 star.

That said, this game is a hate crime to the eyes, but I did have more fun with it compared to 8-Bit S1 and 8-Bit S2, somehow lmao

Mandatory "Brasil número um do mundo ☝️☝️☝️☝️", considering the Master System port.

Urgh, hands down one of the worst Sonic games I’ve played, Sonic Blast is an ugly mutt of a game that barely warrants discussion.

It’s a 2D sonic game where you play as either Sonic or Knuckles, and platform through a few zones. There’s chaos emeralds to find and bosses to beat, it’s all very fundamental.

The game looks atrocious, it was a bad attempt to use the pre rendered graphics of Sonic 3D Blast on much weaker hardware and the result not only looks ugly, but it impacts the gameplay. There is no natural flow to the characters, the zones are completely unremarkable and generic, and the bosses are fairly inoffensive.

There’s not really.. anything I like about Sonic Blast, I suppose it’s cool that Knuckles is playable on the game gear, but his glide isn’t very helpful, Sonic gets a double jump which is better for this game, but it’s this game.

The special stages are so terrible, barely any view and massive amounts of delayed movements, and getting the emeralds just isn’t worth it.

Also shout out to Blue Marine Zone, it’s my least favourite stage in the franchise. It’s confusing, it lags like crazy, there’s not enough water bubbles and there’s invisible currents that push you around making platforming feel impossible.

Don’t play this, it’s awful, one of the worst Sonic has ever seen.

gaming's equivalent to food poisoning

what the fuck is this game why did they make it what the hell was their problem

If this game released today there would be people defending it because it has passion and ambition

I'd have given this a 3.5 out of 5 since, the first 3 levels are honestly really fun and well designed, some of the better ones for 8-bit sonic games, but blue marine zone man... that drags the game down entirely, and the last level is very mediocre as well.

Looking forward to the re-make being made that was showcased during SAGE Christmas!

Honestly, this game feels like a bootleg, every part of it is just horrendous. First of all, there are the graphics, which goes for a “Donkey Kong Country” style of making sprites from a 3D model. But this is running on a Game Gear, which is not made for detailed sprites. The animation is also very limited, so Sonic just looks completely wrong on slopes. The backgrounds are just an ungly mess as well, with little consistency to the style.

The levels are also either boring or frustrating. Due to the graphics, Sonic can’t move fast, so Sonic Blast instead focuses on more maze-like levels, making you guess at where you need to go next. This goes beyond frustrating in the Blue Marine level, which features currents and pipes to go through. You just get thrown about a lot, just hoping that the next pipe will let you progress. The length of time Sonic can hold his breath also changes depending on what part of the level you are on.

The final level features lots of teleports, so it’s trial and error to find your way through it. It’s not fun in the slightest. You don’t even have any nice music to make it bearable, the music in Sonic Blast can be described as “background noise” if you want to be polite. Sonic Blast is just an awful game in every aspect.

truly a cinematic experience.growing up in 1834 growing up only playing consoles like the ps5,Xbox, and Wii.The consoles i owned have not aged well and have had boring 4-bit graphics. However when i looked in my dads closet,i found his old 3DS. With only one game downloaded off the Wii U E-shop that being, sonic blast.seeing the jump to 3D was mind blowing.absolutely revolutionary for the gaming industry

Something about this game just doesn't feel real. Movement is just off enough to bother me.

How is this game real? It genuinely feels like a bootleg.

There's SOME neat ideas here and there (and by that, I mean the Sun Wukong Eggman boss was actually a cool robot design), but ultimately this is a blemish of a game. No redeeming qualities for a lot of it. Blue Marine Zone is the worst thing to ever come out of the Sonic series period. Master System port seems to run at a slower framerate too? No clue if that's quite literally just the game or if it was tweaked for 50hz displays or something.

Blue Marine zone is the worst zone in any Sonic game I've played, other then that it's mostly forgettable.

Очередной платформер, так ещё и с уродским закосом в 3д

Sonic Blast is just unremarkably bad. The graphics are an ugly mish-mash of nasty crunched 3D effect sprites and recycled assets from different games with clashing artstyles, the levels are very basic in design made up from very simple square shapes and tubes, and the controls/physics/momentum just all feel weird and bad. It plays like kinda like an NES bootleg platformer but laughably easy. Once again the Chaos Emeralds are a stupid treasure hunt except this time if you fail the special stage you have to restart the entire game to try again because the big ring won't respawn, I did about four laps of the game before just giving up. Music was a whole load of nothing, forgettable but not grating. Look!

first three zones are honestly alright and have a decent sense of flow to them. the last two zones on the other hand are genuine dogshit and when there are only five zones that is not good. That's not even mentioning how butt ugly the game is. I would not call it the worst sonic game though.

I'm giving it one star because it is playable.

Who designed Blue Marine Zone, and where are they now?
