I made the mistake of playing the GOATED State of Decay 2 first so then when I tried this one it just wasnt as good as its sequel which made me not a huge fan. I should probably complete it at some point

It was pretty fine at best and a slug at worst.

Don't remember much...probably didn't finish it

Needed to try it a couple of times to really get into it, but once you do, it's a phenomenal game

Solid game and honestly not too many games can do or even attempt what this game did. it is pretty fucking janky though and the story is a little too loose for my taste but still a solid zombie survival title with life sim aspects.

not much content but has a good story. typical survival game.

I have a soft spot for this wonderful indie game. It was the first game I ever followed the development of, and I recently replayed it. It's still fun! It's very dated and clearly low budget but considering all of that, it still plays very nice and the combat is still very fun yet at times challenging.

As a 14 year old who desperately wanted to play DayZ Mod but didn't own a PC, this was a great substitute and I loved it.

a good compromise between pure survivalist zombie games like Day-Z and something with more story and human qualities to maintain like TWD

One of the most unique, interesting and complex concepts for a zombie game ever made. So naturally the sequel had to do away with all that, leaving this forgotten gem in its namesake.

cant play it again cause of some trauma

Let's be honest, it is wood... buuuut can be enjoyable if you are willing to turn a blind eye for a moment

In retrospect, I waited too long to play this. By the time I even thought of doing so, there was a sequel, heck, even whole games that rendered this proof-of-concept in complete fashion.

I just completed this game (or rather, the main storyline) and found it to be really thrilling. It's a game where you do not play a single character, but many different characters in the survival situation. All the characters have separate skills that level up as you fight and train them like in Dead Rising with Cardio, Fighting, Wits and Shooting. All obvious, though Wits is to speed up your search time and find more items.

You get to set up a new location for home base, set up outposts to help survivors that wonder get back home and there are many different resources. The main resources being Food, Ammo and Medicine whilst the two others are Petrol and Building supplies which can be used to help improve your homebase. Building watch towers, libraries, bunkers, storage areas, medical centre and so on. All these give different boons and improvements to your stats.

You also get many new missions to help improve the survivor's Moral. Not only yours, but of others that appear around the area with many choices slightly altering the game world. The ending is a little flat, but I'm more than interested in buying a DLC for this game and see where it leads from there. A must sell for anyone who loves the zombie apocalypse genre and wants to play one with not only decent combat, but also survival mechanic that's not too detailed either.

However there are glaring issues. When you find supplies and leave them for later you can't remotely get other survivors to get them later. You can only do that whilst in the house. You are unable to dump the supplies you find in the boot or back of a car, which would make long-distance scavenging easier and not a endless chore. The ending is rather bland as it could've been far more interesting taking this game on the road and developing a better plot, like finding what caused the zombies.

Survivors do not accompany you unless part of a mission or you invite them along which costs 100 influence. When they do accompany you, you can't ask them to pick up supplies to carry for you or any other items. There is also no "luxury Item" thing either which could've been used, like in Dead State, to help raise moral and keep people in a positive mindset, despite this being a end of the world kind of deal.

All in all, not the best game in the world, but it's worth a look if you're into the whole zombie apocalypse thing and you'd like to see it done with some time and resource management in it.

All I remember about this game is that cars were OP as hell.

Loved this game, I would play it for hours. Even though it sometimes got repetitive, I would always keep coming back to it.

I recently played State of Decay, a survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. While I enjoyed many aspects of the game, there were also several issues that prevented it from being a truly great experience.

On the positive side, the open-world design of the game allowed me to explore a vast and immersive environment filled with danger and opportunity. I enjoyed managing my resources and building up my community, and the randomized events kept the gameplay feeling fresh and unpredictable. I also appreciated the permadeath mechanic, which added a sense of tension and consequence to my decisions.

However, the game also suffered from several technical issues, including frequent bugs and glitches that detracted from the overall experience. The AI was also often simplistic and unresponsive, which made the gameplay feel repetitive and predictable at times. While the game had an interesting premise, the lack of a compelling story and character development left me feeling somewhat detached from the world and its inhabitants. Finally, while the crafting and scavenging mechanics were enjoyable, the limited player choice and inconsequential decision-making made it feel more like a simulation than a true survival experience.

Overall, while the game has its strengths, including its replayability and unique permadeath mechanic, it also has several weaknesses that prevent it from being a truly great game. Fans of survival games may still find plenty to enjoy here, but others may want to look elsewhere for a more polished and immersive experience.

the best zombie game I've ever played.

At this point all zombie games are indistinguishable to me.
