Solid remaster. The physics and controls are not as good as the original gamecube and play station controls / mechanics but that was expected as an entirely different engine was used to make this game. It was nice to get to see and play some of my favorite levels exclusive to monkey ball deluxe (to which I haven’t been able to play in 7-8 years as I didn’t have a ps2 but now that I do I am going to get a copy of deluxe definitely).
yep, it is definitely a remake of monkey balls 1 and 2. Controls differently with a different physics model, and has different visuals and music, obviously. I think for this particular remake they played everything really safe and ended up really pleasing nobody, since the diehard monkey ball fans and speedrunners won't like the different physics and controls, with also not a lot of extra new stuff to keep any new fans interested imo. I think the game still plays perfectly fine, its just it doesn't have much of a soul, I guess. Maybe I am just weird, and you should probably try it out for yourself and see if you can see where im tryin to come from here. I appreciate the sentiments behind this game, but they just made boneless monkey ball
The fact that sega released this game without main game multiplayer still baffles me and immediately elevates the original games over this for me.
It's cool getting the play the levels I could never unlock in the originals and the game looks nice, but the multiplayer is one of the main reasons I bought this game.

It feels like the physics are worse than the gamecube titles, but this game does have Morgana Persona 5 in it.
It includes Monkey Ball 1 + 2 original stages as well as other stages so there's plenty of content here, including the party games (monkey target goes hard).
Perfectly fine game but nothing amazing.

It’s hard improving on perfection especially for a game known for precise controls. Unfortunately things feels slightly off in this remake. Excellent level design, very exciting to see a new generation discover the gameplay popularized by Marble Madness. Would have given it 4.5/5 but the Monkey Target minigame is broken and the cinematics are nonexistent in this remake.
