Somewhat quirky concept that works much better than it has any right to. Lot of depth to get better at over time, so it earns its keep.
Was really enjoying this until I got to the expert stages, classic case of Skill Issue™ but those were just frustrating to me so I stopped playing
Has more than enough content to satisfy the arcade design. The controls are also just difficult enough to make you feel like you did something wrong instead of the game being cheap.
But none of that matters because the best part of the game is the minigames, and the best minigame is Monkey Billiards.

Não tenho boas recordações desse jogo. Olhando sob a perspectiva atual, reconheço que era um jogo razoável para a época, mas definitivamente não me conquistou. O jogo é excessivamente difícil e sua trilha sonora me irritava muito quando criança. Apesar disso, esteticamente é um jogo bem bonito e que pode agradar alguns.

The stages are fun but I am so so shit at this game that I am not finishing them, I'm sorry (I might come back in the future and give it another shot idk).
However, the side modes are a ton of fun with friends, even though they are pretty simple, so I'll probably continue to play those over time.

Fun game but damn I am not good enough for expert mode lol. Beginner and advanced were ez breezy, then expert just smacks you in the face difficulty wise. Didnt have the motivation to finish it.
Also its kinda dumb you have to do all the levels in one go, you cant save and take breaks. The life system is also really dumb, had to find a cheat for x99 lives on expert because it was impossible otherwise.

I like this as a fun little arcade title but I will say it gets old. I never felt much of a need to dive super deep into this game but I am glad to have played it. Speedrunners are crazy and I respect them but it's not my fate.
Feels like a game that, on paper, would only exist as one of those post-2019 Foddian games that exists just to take the piss out of streamers a la Only Up and Pogostuck but it accidentally bled into the main timeline and now we're here. Sort of like an evil Katamari. Ball is life.

Pretty fun arcade game. Love the music and overall visual asthetic of the game, very chill. I came back and played a lot more of the game. Unlocked infinite continues and made it further in expert. Now I feel like a truly understand this game and consider it a masterpiece.
Super Monkey Ball is a great adaptation of the arcade Monkey Ball game. Adding scenery to the old levels, and adding a new playable character makes this game worth playing more than the arcade original. Future games would continue to build on the classic formula, however this game is still great!
i mean i saw the credits roll so by my definition i did "complete" it. i did play both the beginner and the advanced courses but the expert ones kicked my fuckin' ass.
the inclusion of lives, which the later games in the franchise removed, was kinda jarring as it meant i had to beat like 50 courses in a row on a limited life system. shit was NOT easy. not bad per say but it definitely felt too extreme, i think monkey ball 2 found a better balance.
overall it's a fun game but i think there're a couple changes they could've made to differentiate it more from its arcade counterpart.

I've spent hours beyond hours playing Monkey Flight in mini-games. I still consider this game to be one of my all-time favorites.
The first Monkey Ball is pretty fun, but holy sh*t is it hard. I used to cry game every time my monkey rolled off the stage. That has definitely messed up my development as a human being. Thanks Sega for stunting my childhood with your silly little monkey game! <3
