3 good games but this is a terrible remaster. It looks sloppy, the sound mixing is whack (the main menu song for example is twice as loud as the rest of the game for some reason), a lot of the sound effects appear to be re-used and some portions of audio were static-y...for some reason? They also didn't remake certain parts like the animation of the camera returning to the base so it looks janky when suddenly they cut from the remastered graphics back to how it looked on the PS2 for 3 seconds.

Its biggest sin though is Honor Among Thieves. Sly 3 is a disaster. They added these stupid black bars that aren't timed with the game's fade ins and fade out so it just looks awkward, plus they don't always make it all the way across the screen. But even worse, they failed to properly format overlays for the game's resolution, meaning anytime you pause or they use an overly, it doesn't make it all the way across the screen and you can see behind it on the edges. This also happens during cutscenes and it's very distracting.

Overall, a very poor remaster.

Sucker Punch Productions captivated an audience with their incredible PS2 Trilogy. Providing worthwhile characters, fun settings, solid levels and a witty sense of humor. This collection should have been an easy high rating. But unfortunately Sanzaru Games treated this like my first apartment and gave these games the landlord special.

It isn't a complete mess but after a while cracks really start to show. If this is your only means to play these games you will still have a great time. But now that I've platinumed all three titles, I will stick with the PS2 versions when I want to revisit this series.

Instead of reviewing the collection, here's my thoughts on the individual games:

Sly Cooper and the Thevius Raccoonus: Pretty fun 3D platformer. Stealth is a lot more downplayed compared to any other Sly game, but it has fun levels and memorable characters.

Sly 2: Band of Thieve: Controversial opinion: this is probably my least favorite of the Sly Cooper franchise. This game is still really good, but I personally don't think it's quite as good as the others.

Sly 3: My favorite game in the series. Best story and best characters, but it is a little disappointing that they got rid of clue bottles and replaced them with the forgettable challenges.

Overall: The Sly Cooper franchise is probably my favorite series of 3D platformers and it sparked my love of stealth games too.

peak gaming if u ask me, grew up playing this, but definitely preferes sly 2 and 3 over sly 1. Regardless, made my childhood.

The weird cropping of some assets that weren't made for 16:9 was the highlight.

One of my favorite franchises brought to PS3 in a great way. It is a little glitchy here and there, but not agonizingly so.

This review contains spoilers

Sly 2 is a game where Sly learns there is no Honor Among Thieves, and Sly 3 is literally about assembling a Band of Thieves.

These are the greatest thieving games of all time: they stole each-other's names!

This is the only way for me to review Sly Cooper 2

one of the sloppiest rereleases ever

Just awful. It's no wonder the series went MIA after the PS2.

Amazing series that gets better game by game. The first and second game was really easy to Platinum but I didn’t bother with the last game. I really hope that Sucker Punch will bring back the series.

Sly 2 is the best in the series. Love these games so much and I wish Sony would revisit him in a reboot.

great games but pretty terrible rerelease. like audio glitches here and there, screen overlays like the cinematic black bars and stuff just completely fail to cover the screen, which can take you out of certain moments. feels like changing that sort of UI is the perfect thing to add to a rerelease

Sly 1 : ★★★★
I started playing it yesterday afternoon and finished it tonight. What can I say: it made me curse a lot. I don't think it's super difficult, however, I lost so many times that I almost became apathetic. However it was nice playing it. I have to say that in general its settings are the most beautiful ones...it must be that being a platform game it gives you most articulated levels with more possibilities for stunts which gives off very adrenaline-pumping.
In my opinion Panda King has the best map and definitely the best boss fight. Clockwerk's map was just a whole boss fight which i loved and hated at the same time.
I'm glad I got to play it after all these years, it was definitely worth it.

Sly 2: ★★★★★
I don't have much to say here except that it's my childhood. It may not be a perfect video game for others, but it is to me. To play it again after 9 years made me so happy. Compared to the first one, it is an open world (?) The maps are not huge and vast, however, it is just fine. You feel that they are just right as it is.
After playing the first one, I really feel like saying they hit the jackpot by making Bentley and Murray playable (+ abilities) in Sly 2.
Compared to the first one I didn't find it as adrenaline-pumping, although there are a lot of guards and it's a snap to get caught, it's very cozy. Maybe that's the thing I like the most: being stealthy, not to be seen by guards and just going around stealing and stealing.
The screen that appears after completing a mission is absolutely superb and superior to that of the Sly 3 one.
I'm sorry that they didn't keep certain abilities from the first one like the Thief Replica... i would have had so much fun with that power-up.
Otherwise I love the plot, I love the missions, I love everything.

Sly 3: ★★★½
I got a little bored replaying it...
The story didn't excite me as much as it did with the first and second one... I understand that they needed to lengthen the broth, however, in my opinion Dimitri and Panda King were enough... can't understand the addition of the shaman and Penelope.
I am also sorry that they removed the bottles with clues GRR!
The part inside the Cooper vault was perhaps the best part.

To conclude as a fan of Sly Cooper i feel like saying that it lacks nothing as a video game. Overall I loved it and would replay it a thousand more times...which I will certainly do as soon as the obligations of my student life end.
"Show your bling and let me shine you!"

(Solid remaster, didn't play 2 & 3 but here's my review for 1)

This is one of the most frustrating platformers I've ever played. On one had the game's presentation oozes personality across the board from the artstyle, characters, locations; for a PS2 era game it's really impressive how good it looks by today's standards. On the other hand you have a collectathon platformer mixed with: one-hit kill system, rage inducing minigames, & floaty controls in game with many moments requiring precise input.

One of the shittier HD collections of the 7th gen, breaking a lot of audio cues, ruining the linework effect (implying it's just shittily emulating these games anyways as that's an age-old emulation error that was fixed over the last couple years in PCSX2, even when up-resing), and bafflingly changing the music from its iconic B-grade-yet-unique font and composition to this weirdly generic, less dynamic orchestral spin on them that ruins much of the atmosphere.

Kind of bewildering this collection sits at a cool 4.1 average, which I can only assume is just hyperfans propping it up. I hate "ports" like these, it makes something relatively unique in much of its presentation for its time feel so cheap. I guess the "mediocre 3D platformer" Youtube fandom would get a kick out of it that way.

Son muy buenos pero no soy furro

Docked half a star for removing various unlockables like the director's commentaries in the first game and some of the cutscenes in 2 and 3, but other than that, it's a pretty solid collection of some of the best PS2 games out there.

Ironically, since the PS3 used market is in complete shambles, the physical copy of this collection now costs more to own than it does to buy the three PS2 games, therefore completely defeating the purpose of this collection's existence. Whoops.

Honestly, this feels like a group of students made this, it feels so janky that I'm afraid the more I play it the worse it becomes.
