Arcade:
This essentially feels like 4 way Pong except faster paced and being able to catch and launch the ball at fast pace! It's extremely fun to play and doesn't feel cheap. This game is great, loved my time with the arcade version! Though it sometimes does feel like the cpus are trying to take you out first though. But still I enjoyed my time with this one, and it looks great!

One hell of a fresh take on BREAKOUT. The castle/dragon theme is such a cool way to frame the gameplay, specifically for multiplayer, and the hold shot is a masterstroke for battling your friends as well.
One (unfortunately kind of fundamental) gripe - I really do hate having to round the corner with my shield - just feels bad. I certainly can't think of any good way around it though. And I'm sure much smarter people than me tried.
I can't decide if the gameplay needs one more -thing- or not - I go back and forth on whether there's more immediate fun to be had within this framework or if it's fine in its relative simplicity. Again, gotta side with the guys who made this - they were firing on all cylinders conceptually with this one.
Another impressive new step down the evolutionary path from PONG.

Honestly the score here is mostly from me playing the Atari 2600 version at retro conventions against other people. As a multiplayer game its pretty fun though it does very much unintentionally encourage sneaky backstabbing behaviour as everyone tries to gang up on somebody before flipping on the next target and depending on who you're playing with, that may not always be the most fun thing to mess with.
I actually really dig Warlords!
We saw Atari trying to evolve games like Pong and Breakout before this, but this is a huge step forward, in my opinion. Essentially, it's four-way breakout, where the goal isn't to eliminate all the player's bricks, but to simply reach the heart of their castle. Also, you can grab and charge the flaming ball, which feels very satisfying.
Fun as hell. I'm sure it's even more fun with a group of four.

The 4 player cocktail cabinet is one of few actually perfect video games. If I miss anything most about arcade games, it's the idea that the control could be non-standard so you could use something so rudimentary as a dial and a button to do something so blisteringly intense and visceral. Combined with the table layout, where everyone can see the exact same field of play? It's just genius.
Atari 2600:
4 Way Pong except you're able to catch and launch the ball, this is a great port of the arcade game and is as extremely fun to say. I prefer the arcade version in terms of visuals, but the 2600 version feels faster, but regardless both versions are really good but the arcade one is better. So because I gave the Arcade one 4.5, im giving the 2600 version 4/5 stars, still a great port.
Played in the Atari 50 collection.
