I have never enjoyed an FPS more than this game at launch. There was a game mode released, (Frontlines?) that was supposed to be a blend of Conquest and TDM modes. For whatever reason, they didn't properly code in a match timer.
For about two months of this game's lifecycle, I sat in my college apartment ripping gravity bongs and playing 2 hour matches getting 100+ kills. I'm sure being high as giraffe nuts contributed to it, but the immersion of these long, drawn out mini sieges actually felt akin to what my mental image of the First World War was.
Sometimes, when I crack my neck, I get acid flashbacks of chambering a round in my SMLE Mk3.

Respawn... morte.
One of the greatest FPS games ever and I'll stand by that. Phenomenal multiplayer, great campaigns and overall just an absolute blast to play. It's dark and gritty aesthetic works really well and the trailer just proved that. Best Battlefield game bar none. The multiplayer is so cinematic half the time you think you're in a movie.
part of me is telling me its worse than I think it is but this is one of the funnest multiplayer games ive played, I have very fond memories of crazy shit happening and intense battles of holding out that felt like genuine all out war. I wish it was more active on pc so I could relive the experiences I had with this game.
oh the campaign is kinda boring though

Battlefield 1 probably had the single most exhilarating and ridiculously fun multiplayer for me ever. I found it incredibly rewarding to be able to do well in the game despite never being a great shot in FPS games, contributing in a number of other fun ways to my team. The maps are solid and the variety of vehicles and weapons makes for a lot of differing ways to play.
The single player campaign offers some nice gameplay, with maybe a bit too much emphasis on stealth style gameplay in each of the war stories. However it serves as a nice introduction to each of the games major elements and works as a perfect lead in to the chaos of multiplayer, despite its hammy melodrama.
Battlefield 1 is one of the most endlessly playable games ever, and one I still continue to launch now and again for the thrill of being thrown into the fire.

The best online shooter of all time, it nails its setting and features extremely cool, well-animated, strange and obscure guns. The online battles can be either insanely large scale with massive blimps flying overhead or brutally, desperately close fighting for inches of ground in trenches and hallways. Everything about it takes the aesthetic brutality of WWI and turns it into a fun and intense game. Really awesome, no other online shooter feels so grounded in its own take on its setting.
