If and when this game gets finished, it looks like it's going to be Wild. Judging by these first two chapters, it's even more of a video game about other video games than Undertale was, exchanging that game's fetish for expectation subversion for this sort of repeated denial of fanservice.
Some immediately interesting ideas are being developed, especially in chapter 2. A primary focus is the lack of choice in life, with some fun little solipsist undertones about the game's characters being stuck acting out the story itself. Even more interesting is the way Toby Fox is exploring the division between the player and the player character. In particular there's some optional content that I dare not spoil which really deeply unsettles with how it recontextualizes an NPC in the same light you might otherwise see the player character.
There's just a lot of strange storytelling feats being pulled off already, is my point. I'm unspeakably excited to see where the rest of this goes so that I can repeatedly rewrite this review with successively higher scores.

Even with only 2 chapters released to date Deltarune makes the generation defining Undertale look like a spin-off/prototype. Every aspect of the design and writing feel more nuanced and mature than Toby Fox's previous work with subtle improvements to the artistic direction that really bring these simple character sprites to life.
Can't recommend you jump into this one enough but I'll stress that playing through at least the true pacifist route of Undertale will add a lot to your experience.

A very solid successor to Undertale. The gameplay expands with the addition of a more traditional RPG party and the TP system. The characters and soundtrack are good, Rouxls Kaard, the Queen, and ESPECIALLY Spamton being my favorites so far. I don't think the current lineup of characters and music is overall as good as Undertale, but what we've seen so far give me hope future chapters create a game just as special as Undertale.
Though the game has only had two chapters completed so far, there is so much to this game that makes it so worth playing, whether you know about Undertale or not (though usually it's preferred to play Undertale first to feel more connected with characters). It improves upon what Undertale built up in so many ways and I just love it for that. It has enriching characters, hilarious dialogue, amazing music, and a story that really keeps you hooked and leaves you wanting more. Not to mention the number of secrets and details there are scattered throughout the game. It's literally just perfect and I'd highly recommend it.
