Not crazy about Tetris or Puyo Puyo, but I ended up enjoying this. Game provides a good level of challenge all throughout.

Alright, but no reason to really play this when Puyo Puyo 2 exists. Maybe if you REALLY like funny robots and/or you really hate stuff with anime artstyles for some asinine reason, sure, play this instead.

See the scenario mode is fun, but at one point it gets so unfairly difficult - as in, can't stop the AI from suddnely dropping a bunch of rocks onto your screen - that it's impossible to play. Bet it would be sick to play against a friend though, and would love to see them bring this back as a minigame one day, more polished

It's just puyo puyo sonic. So in it's own right it's fine. Not much of a puzzle guy but i do like puyo puyo. (Thanks Yakuza)

It's Puyo Puyo 1 with Sonic characters. There are better Puyo games but you can't really go wrong with this one.

My introduction to Puyo Puyo, and it's a pretty good introduction. I also very much appreciate Scratch and Grounder being in an actual video game.
I sank and continue to sink hours into the Game Gear version of this game. I find other iterations of Puyo Puyo to be rather difficult, including the Genesis version of this game, but the Game Gear version is just right, allowing me to practice my puyo combos and have a lot of fun doing it. This is actually how I practiced to play levels in Puyo Puyo Tetris on the Switch!
Anyway, I love this game, super duper fun, I really can't find anything bad about it other than the Game Gear may not be the most ideal way to play it for some.

Easily the best part of Sonic Mega Collection. Sure it's a Tetris knockoff, but it's a FUN Tetris knockoff.

From this one I mostly learned that I’m no good at Puyo Puyo, which believe it or not is already a thing I knew! So arguably a waste of time there. But seriously, the story mode in this is punishingly difficult if you’re not extremely good at Puyo Puyo. Other than that, all I can really say is the choice to set it in the world of the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon instead of the continuity of the other games or the somewhat more popular Archie Comics/SatAm series world is intriguing. But that’s about all I got.

its puyo puyo but with an aosth skin. the music is cool, the sprites look great, but god the difficulty spike is insane, even on easy and normal mode. how ive managed to beat this game so many times as a kid, i'll never know

This game is charming, but it lacks the polish of later Puyo Puyo entries. If you know how to take advantage of early Puyo Puyo jank, play it with a friend. The look on their face will be priceless
