Unpopular opinion: this isn't fun and the writing makes me want to shoot myself. Some of the gear and perks it adds to the game make it worth it, but if I'm not going for 100% I'm probably going to skip this one next time.

Sometimes patrolling the Mojave doesn't have to be a desperate struggle for survival against your fellow man and the monsters brought upon by the apocalypse
Sometimes it can be all of that and also really funny

I really enjoyed this DLC, but I don't know if I loved it.
On one hand, the DLC's pros are its humor, the weird as fuck scenarios the game puts you through, it's more focused approach on exploration rather than telling a story with a liner open-world like the prior DLCs, and it's cast of extremely well-written characters, but it does have some problems.
The Missions can be very repetitive at times, more specifically the X-8 Data Retrieval Test missions. Now technically you don't need to finish all of them to beat the DLC, but you can blast through the DLC in under an hour, and the game encourages you to explore the entirety of Big MT so with that in mind the mission feels more like padding rather than a fun mission.

The other problem would-be the new enemies.
Now I just like everyone else in the world thinks that Robot Scorpions are cool, but they can feel really bullet spongey, so rather than giving me funny new enemies to fight you've given me a headache to deal with, and when the final boss is one of these things I just said fuck it pumped a bunch of psychos and blew it up Another problem I had was with enemies just spawning out of nowhere or sometimes right in front of me, I get that this came out in 2011 and open worlds we're hard to work with but when a group of 6 lobotomites spawn right in front of me and take like half my health before I can react, it feels a little cheap.

I stilled really enjoyed this DLC, and If I had to pick which one I liked more between this and Dead Money I'd probably go with this just on the humor alone, also Doctor 0 is voiced by James Urbaniak who also voices Dr. Venture in The Venture Bros., once you know that it's impossible to unsee it.

The best of the New Vegas DLCs, primarily because of the huge variety items, perks and services which are actually useful. The Big MT has lots of interesting locations and exploration is rewarded. The characters are wacky, amusing and endearing but can sometimes be annoying and try too hard to be funny.

i love the narrative but the enemy encounters bloooooooow. it deserves lots of credit for being very goofy though

I know I'm supposed to like this one but I just can't bring myself to do it. The writing is quirky but in a way that's kind of just irritating and the world is so artificially populated by enemies to make exploration varied that I would literally just be walking and see a hoard of robot scorpions pop into existence in front of me. By far my least favorite New Vegas DLC.

Nota 9.

Los cientificos toman demasiados mentats

One of the funniest video game experiences I have ever had. The writing is so good.

I'm a slut for dialogue and this is filled to the brim with the silliest dialgoue Fallout has to offer. It's such a good time, even if all the quests are pretty repetitive fetch quests. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :D

Played through Proton on Linux. I'm going to start putting this message on things unless/until an option is added to Backloggd.

"There is a expression in the Wasteland, "Old World Blues". It refers to those so obsessed with the past they can't see the present, much less the future, for what it is. They stare into the what-was, eyes like pilot lights, guttering and spent, as the realities of their world continue on around them."

Easily the best Fallout DLC of all time - Tons of new content, entertaining, hilarious, and sometimes terrifying. Possibly my favorite part of returning to New Vegas.

"care for a mentat?"

old world blues is the most mid fallout new vegas dlc. it isn't bad, but it isn't astounding either. to start this off with something nice, yes: this dlc is the most charming new vegas dlc. it is very light hearted and has quite a lot of jokes in it, which is pretty unique for new vegas dlcs. buuuuut once you play new vegas as much as i do, the jokes really don't stand up. i can only hear doctor klien talk about penis feet so many times before it isn't that funny anymore. so what do you have left without the charm of the dlc? a whole bunch of xp. on my most recent run, this dlc got me from level 12 to level 21, which is not something to sneeze at. in fact, it's so vital to leveling up in new vegas that that's pretty much the only reason i touch it. combine this with the fact that this dlc HATES traditional firearm users, and you have a meh dlc that i play for a piece of loot or two and 10 free levels essentially

i'm obscenely biased i'd let dr. dala observe me any day

My favourite DLC for New Vegas. This is saying a lot because Lonesome Road was such a fantastic DLC that I so thoroughly loved, I didn't think anything else would top it. But I was wrong. Old World Blues is pure fun, an endearing tribute and love letter to Sci-Fi B-Movies and a hilarious journey into a bizarre location. Fantastic.

Sadly it's overrated. I enjoy the story as i do for all of the DLCs but man, I do not enjoy my time in the big sink

James Urbaniak and the rest of the voice actors make this the most fun of the Fallout New Vegas DLC even if the world feels empty. Still, in comparison to the others which feel like mods slapped together by fans at a sleepover, this does a decent job setting up the stakes of the story and has creative ideas mostly throughout.

Speaking with robots is entertaining but quests are boring.

Old World Blues was a great DLC to my ever growing play through of Fallout: New Vegas. Old World Blues was a surprise. The entire DLC took a comedic approach and the writing was great. The characters were really funny and out of this world, especially the Sink Crew and the main "villain" Dr. Mobius. The Sink Crew consists of a talking toaster, sink, gardening machine, book chute, a robot obsessed with coffee mugs and hates his life for that reason, jukebox, auto-doctor machine, and two light switches that you can flirt with. Yes. Not even joking. The characters are very endearing, wacky, and fun.

The story of the DLC is really dumb, but it at least knows it is. You're literally looking for your surgically removed brain and you can talk to your brain, but he doesn't want to go back into your head. Exploring the crater of the Big Empty was really cool and fun, however the enemies felt really damage spongy and annoying. The side quests were also really repetitive and boring, but it's all worth it for the extra dialogue and it results in a better ending as well. The ending I got was great and it was really fun to see the Sink Crew together and become great friends with the player character. The DLC also did a great job of tying in and making references with Dead Money and it seems to be building up to the final DLC Lonesome Road. Overall, this was a great DLC and some of the funniest writing I've heard in a video game. Can't wait to start Lonesome Road. 8/10.

On my first playthrough the mojave drive-in was the first dlc location i discovered and it stayed at the back of my mind until I reached the reccommended level to approach it. As soon as I did, I started the dlc and immediately felt a major disconnect when the robot doctors spoke. Their never ending ramblings and silly jokes took me out of the base game's atmosphere, so I reloaded a save and got back into the Mojave.

After finishing DM and HH I started OWB and was able to finish it, but still have not been able to find the characters compelling, other than Dala, 8 and Mobius. That said, Borous is a close runner-up for the "Most Punchable Face" Award and only loses beacuse Dean Domino is such a spiteful piece of shit.

Waaaay too many encounters in this one. Thankfully they aren't too terrible. Then there's the nightcrawlers, which I swear must be bugged because i kept fucking missing 95% headshots with them, and they take a fifth of your health in a bite.

I don't trust anyone who does not like this DLC

Probably my least favorite of the DLCs. It has a good premise and a wide area to explore with several quests, but the humor is very prevalent and way too forced. There are a lot of quests and places to explore, but very few of them are interesting. Though the tests you can do like for the stealth suit are pretty fun ways to spice things up. Having an upgradeable house with different services was pretty neat but a lot of the functions relied on collecting useless junk which I refuse to do. They also had an obnoxious desire to throw tons of super durable robot scorpions at you constantly because "haha robo scorpions so quirky" and that just ended up being a pain. That being said, it ended well and it did have its moments like talking my brain into coming back to my body and pretending I was taken over by mobius to scare think tank into staying in the crater.

I really enjoyed how much this DLC leaned into the oddity and comedy of Fallout, after Dead Money it made for a nice palette cleanser. There's so much interesting, funny dialogue to experience in Old World Blues that it makes up for the rather unremarkable setting. The Think Tank and other interior spaces dotted around the map provide plenty of lore and quests to chew on, but the exterior of the Big MT just isn't as cool as Zion Canyon. At least, not to me. Still better than navigating the Sierra Madre though.

That was one sexy light switch.

Dialogue and worldbuilding punctuated by fetch quests. It's worth the tedium to get to talk to Mobius and the Think Tank, and for the Ulysses tapes.

Played on Linux through Proton 6.16-GE-1. Mods in Use: NVSE, NVAC, NV Stutter Remover, 4GB Patch, MTUI.

Everyone is lying this is trash

A nice DLC, with a pretty interesting story and setting. I ABHOR all the combat though, no reason for the enemies to have that much health and damage. Could get trough it just fine, but did not have fun.

The characters are curious, I like them even though there are a lot of bad humor moments. Some pretty good ones though. They are well placed in the story, and the lore present here is a great addition to the main game and its other DLCs. Good environmental storytelling as well, as you would expect at this point. Some of the commentary here is also great.

Bogged down by some unfun and some unfunny moments, it's still pretty nice.

I really liked the area and lore in this DLC, especially how it gives extra context to the events and characters in Dead Money. More dialogue heavy than other DLCs, but not necessarily a bad thing.

Eu ACHO que teve um robô que disse que queria gozar em mim
