A perfect follow-up to the original Chibi-Robo. The first 2 games didn’t do too well in America, so I can kind of understand why Nintendo didn’t bring this one overseas. But man, I really think this could’ve turned the fate of series around if they did.
This one goes back to the absolute basics of the first game, adds a bunch of cool new ideas, and fixes up some old ideas. There’s a much bigger focus on Chibi’s plug. This time, Chibi can use their plug and cord as a weapon or as a means of transportation by tossing it like a lasso. You can upgrade your cord to make it longer to throw and climb to higher outlets or to charge from far away. There’s a vacuum cleaner where you can empty the dust panel and find bits of gold or gemstones for money. Picking up trash serves a purpose as you can now recycle it and convert it into energy. You can climb up furniture to easily access higher areas. There’s no more fall damage so you don’t have to be extremely careful in high places. You can even play Blackjack with ghosts. I could go on and on about all the improvements and cool mechanics, but I’ll leave some surprises for you.
As for the story, it’s a lot like the first game, possibly even more sad. It takes place about 20 years after the first game. A different Chibi-Robo and their Telly are now considered retro and are bought by a very poor family in a thrift shop. In their home, the wallpaper is peeling off, many appliances are broken or missing, and there’s trash everywhere. The mother is constantly working overtime to be able to afford the house, the son skips school to work a job delivering papers for extra money, the family dog is perpetually dirty, and the father is no where to be seen. As a cleaning robot and the newest member of the family, it’s up to you to tidy up the house and make some money to make their lives a little better. They can’t afford electricity, so you can’t recharge all the time; instead you have to recycle garbage to resupply the house with power. As you progress, you make the family happier and learn a bit more about each member. You’ll also meet lots of little side-characters with interesting personalities and problems to solve. The further you progress, the happier and sillier the main story gets.
Off the top of my head, I don’t really remember any glaring issues with this game. The controls are a bit odd; you have to use the touch screen to move Chibi around but you get used to it pretty quickly. I played this with a controller in one hand and a screenless drawing tablet in the other and it surprisingly felt okay. I suppose the sifting minigame gets a bit boring after a while, but you can just throw the dust bags away for tons of energy, so it isn’t mandatory.
Overall, this is a very charming game and it’s pretty impressive for the DS. It’s an absolute shame that Nintendo never brought this one to the west. Thanks to the efforts of some dedicated fans, there’s an English translation floating around. I highly recommend this game, even if you haven’t played the original; you can understand and enjoy it without any prior knowledge.

Probably the most impressive game on the ds i have played. The enviroment and characters look really good. The sidequest and story of this game is really charming and fun for the most part. The balance of resource management with sandbox exploration is a really fun gameplay loop. In the endgame i found some of the dust and thrash collecting to become a bit repetetive especially when the money requirements became really high. The casino also works but is highly luck dependent.
Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Oosouji ( Chibi-Robo: Clean Sweep ) :
Before I start, I want to mention that you should check my first chibi-robo review because I tell the basics of a chibi-robo game there and I will talk mostly about how this game improves on it and what it adds.
There are so many franchises that deserved much better and if I had to choose my favorite it would be Chibi-Robo. The game's are beyond unique experiences with a lot of character, exploration and an incredible amount of detail and charm.
Clean Sweep as fans call it is a direct sequel to the original but now on DS and it geniunly fixes most of the issues of Plug into Adventure and even expands some characters from the original like Jenny the daughter from the first game became a mom and bought us because knew about our duty on the first game, the rangers from the first game are also back and they are still amazing here. The setting is now about a poor family so now you try to make and gain money and they see you as a family member rather than a robot that helps in the first game which is such a unique setting for the game, you take part in savings tournaments to get new furnitures and items for the house and family, you help cook the dinner and help washing the dishes and such. The story takes a strange turn in the later game and thats the place where you know the story is gonna be sweet and heartwarming just like the first game.
The gameplay improved soo sooo much more, you finally don't take fall damage anymore and you can now choose from 5 options on how long you want to make the day last instead of 3 which is more flexible and a welcome change. The proggression in the story isn't a slog and you don't get lost easily like in the first game because of savings tournaments being always there, better direction and that was my biggest problem with the first game. The new cleaning mechanic is very fun and the whole making your cord longer so you throw it and reach to the bigger areas mechanic is also very fun and a fresh way to traverse the area. The upgrades, new chips are cool and still a good way to keep you doing more things. The items and costumes chibi-robo uses are much better and more useful than the first game. Watts and vehicles from Park Patrol are a great change it adds a little strategy to the game and finally vehicles are an amazing way to travel around the house that the original game lacked. You also now use the phone to buy stuff which is a cool change for people that came from the original because its a surprise for everyone and there are a lot of things like that in the game.
Lastly the characters and charm is still amazing. The new toys are great, Ketchup, Iberico, Habanero are now amongst my favorites in the franchise and the family members are great too, Lucky is a good dog and an older boy Keith is also a good one of course along with Jenny who is such a sweet character and another character I don't want to spoil.
You really need to play Chibi-Robo: Clean Sweep, its a fun time, playing it when you are chilling and vibing was so much fun when you just wanted to explore and collect, the charm is incredible and I couldn't recommend the game enough; belive me the translation is so well done, such an underrated gem on DS.

Here's one I completed last year, but still lingers in my mind and asks me to replay it (which I will).
Extremely charming, silly, and emotionally affecting game about helping an impoverished family with more than just cleaning.
It's hard to believe it's on the DS. Graphically, along with Park Patrol (which I'm in the middle of playing), it is a technical marvel, with Chibi running around in full 3D environments, which are surprisingly expansive.
If you liked the original, I beg you to play this. Heck, I think this game is worth anyone's time.
(My save file, last I checked, was around 15 hours and 20 minutes)

Great game, went into it expecting another Park Patrol, but came out of it very impressed. They managed to adapt the Chibi Robo game loop in its entirety to the DS, while adding more than the first game. The first Chibi Robo game was probably the first game I ever stalked in magazines, eventually getting it a few years after it came out. The quirky yet somewhat emotionally grounded story and calming gameplay mixed with the colorful graphics really stuck with me. The game isn't afraid to show a dysfunctional family, they show the highs and the lows, I think that's really special. Clean Sweep has all of that and more, just like the first game, I really related to the story. It was a weird feeling to play the first game when I was a kid like Jenny, and then play Clean Sweep as an adult, made it a lot more personal. The only things that stop this game from being a 5 are the pacing and the OST. The progression can take a while at some points and the music was a bit of a letdown when compared to the first game.
I loved this game but unfortunately I cannot finish it because it keeps crashing on the wii u, made it to thevery end though. This game is a great follow up to the first game, stuff like throwing your plug feels like such a natural evolution of the series. The touch controls seem like they would suck but they really aren't that bad because you never have to do anything too precise. Seeing the house and everything get cleaner and cleaner is so satisfying and got me hooked. Just sucks that I CANT FUCKING FINISH IT OH MY GOD.
