Probably doesn't deserve the hate it gets, people just don't like popular things. It's an alright multiplayer shooter.
this is like tf2 but with no large russian man with a big minigun, which is a huge negative in my book.

Blizzard is extremely skilled at making me absolutely furious when trying to play their games. Overwatch, while initially pretty fun, gets REALLY draining over time. The absolute worst thing a game can do is make you feel like you're getting curb stomped when you're actually winning, and Overwatch does this CONSTANTLY.

Used to be a really cool and fun team shooter but dev interference and toxic fans have kinda neutered the experience.

Overrated, truly. It's bad as a shooter, and as a hero/class-shooter.
You're either playing a character that lacks an actual gun, requiring zero skill as just facing the enemy lets you lock onto the target...
Or you're playing somebody with the most basic and boring ability, yes you usually just have the one.

blizzard is evil, they did eventually break the game for casual play, but there's still enough left in me after like 400 hours that i think about starting again and getting into watching OWL

2-2-2, priority pass, endorsement system, and yet somehow the game still manages to have toxic dps players. So many changes were made in development and live service that have limited creativity because balancing the game was too hard.
in a world full of mediocre multiplayer shooters overwatch is a solid shooter with a great crew of characters.

I can't speak for the current meta or really any other meta, but I can tell you that the couple weeks I played this game when it first came out were a really good time.
Fun game, but I think role queues were a mistake.
