I enjoyed it but yeah it's got some flaws

I appreciate this game more retroactively seeing how bad the next generation would be.

Enjoyable game but disappointing that it's not much much of a step forward for the series. It's strange that it's visually worse than X and Y.

not that bad, but the constant handholding makes this virtually unplayable for me a second time.

fun the first time around and has a good story by pokemon standards but it lacks any sort of replay value

Wish i lost this cartdrige instead of sapphire/platinum

game freak really did peak during the DS era

>no skip cutscenes button in the year of our lord 2016

I thought I was pretty lapsed on pokeman but then I played and beat both games back to back so hey must mean the game's pretty good

This has exactly the opposite problem to Sword, it has a nice story and characters and area designs and graphics but kinda crappy music and pokemon designs

why'd they make the tropical resort region have such a ball-busting story

The story and new ideas introduced here were great, but not enough to save the game from eternal hand holding.

Unfinished game and so piss easy. Holy shit the handholding and cringy characters.

When this game came out, I wasn't a fan, like most people. But coming back to it now after a few years, especially after 8th gen, I can appreciate it a lot more. Alola is the best region we've gotten since Sinnoh, Ultra Beasts are actually a great set of legendaries, and Alola itself is a beautiful region filled with lore. I am not a fan of z-moves, I really don't think they ever had a place in Pokemon, but the introduction of regional variants balanced this out.

good game that had a really awful generation of pokemon. we're never going to see another gen 5 level of quality and quantity in pokemon designs so i don't hold it against this game too much. lillie rules as a character and the story actually isn't terrible this time. i think this game got a lot of undeserved blowback despite being the generation that finally killed HMs (after ORAS walked so it could run). i don't have a good way to end this review so i'll just say cantankerous dastard.

I liked the island spin of it but at it's core it's just a more hand holding entry in the pokémon franchise

honestly, the best pokemon game I've ever played (would have said the same on pokemon ultra sun or moon, but I didn't play those so :P)

The game is full of content and places to explore, and its actually not as repetitive as other games due to its new replacement to the gym system.

It has a nice and at least non cheesy plot that makes the unskippable cutscenes feel rather interesting instead of boring or unnecessary.

Péssima decisão tirar os ginásios, eu acho que esse jogo falhou lindamente.

One of the strongest casts in any mainline Pokemon game thanks

This game has probably the best story of all pokemon games. Dude, This girl turns into a pokémon, ultra beast, whatever the fuck that thing was.......AND YOU HAVE TO BATTLE IT? fuck yeah boy let's go.

I love being railroaded every step of the way by my annoying friend. Not even Solgaleo and his god tier design could have saved this game.
The sad part is that there are a lot of pokemon designs that really slap, like Kommo-o, Mimikyu, Golisopod, etc. Guzmas theme is also excellent and a very entertaining villain that did nothing wrong.
Just skip this one or play on "alternative" ways.

Great aesthetics and designs all around, one of my favorite pokemon soundtracks, I love the characters and their stories. The beginning is sluggish and some of the gameplay elements can feel stale but most of the gameplay complaints are pretty mild for me.

In a way it is the best pokemon game however I have played too many similar pokemon games which makes this game feel more watered out. It kinda slimmed down on a lot of redundant and lame concepts the past games had, like HM moves. The new pokemons are kinda cool and are definitely an improvement compared to the last two generations. However there seem to be a lack of cool pokemons.

the ultra games should’ve been the regular ones but the originals are chill

I think the Pokemon games have always had trouble with being really slow? Especially at the start and when you take into mind that there's multiple FULL islands, the Elite Four, antagonists, etc. It's a long game and I think it's bound to feel slow + it drags on a lot.
Not my favorite game, but the characters were super lovable and I'm glad I played anyways.
