Reviews from

in the past

So, I was writing this whole big review for the game when the window I was writing this in crashed, so no big review, I guess.

Anyway, this remake is fantastic. The gameplay is fluid and super customizable (keyboard/mouse setup is king for this game), the story is great in that usual hokey Resident Evil fashion, the changes brought upon this version of the game are interesting but still remain mostly faithful to the original release, the voice acting is great, and although we're in a more action-heavy experience as compared to the RE 2 remake, the game is still fraught with great horror moments that freaked me out plenty.

I'm just going to say here that although I finished this game in around 6 hours for a first run, I do not have any complaints about the game length. I know that there's a lot of people out there complaining that this game is short, and I can kind of understand where they're coming from, but it should always be kept in mind that the original Resident Evil 3 is a rather short game, and although there aren't any additional scenarios placed on like in RE 2, there's a wealth of interesting NG+ options available once you roll credits.

If you're someone who places a lot on the length of your gaming experience, then don't bother with this game at full price, but if you're a functioning adult and realize a brief, yet replayable and extremely fun experience is more worth playing that a drawn-out boring one for 25+ hours, then you'll certainly have a blast with this game.

I highly recommend Resident Evil 3 Remake to RE fans and functioning adults alike.

It's like they looked at the best parts of the previous game and decided to do the opposite while doubling down on the worst?

The fantastic level design/exploration loop is thrown out the window for a linear funneling through the butchered locales. The recycling of areas from the previous game while the clock tower, park, and other areas were missing was especially disappointing.

The horror/action balance is thrown off with a heavy focus on action without many gameplay shifts to account for it. The dodge mechanic was a start but it feels half baked and clearly isn't enough to carry things on its own.

Meanwhile they gave us more scripted chase sequences because everybody's favorite part of REmake 2 was totally the crocodile sewer bit. Nemesis roams around/messes with you in a non-scripted way for all but 10 minutes and he's less of a threat than the zombie mobs that are all over the place. What happened?

It isn't all bad, still. The character designs (Jill looks great and Carlos is really hot lmao), the characters themselves, and the soundtrack were all nice. Those can only go so far when the rest of the game was so rancid.

Generally the mangling of the source content you're remaking would go over better if the new content you have to show for it was worth a shit. I would've been totally here for a nice reimagined REmake 3 but this isn't great as a fresh or nostalgic experience.

I feel like this is the breaking point of my heavy investment in the series. It feels really bad tbh.

A bland action game wearing RE2's clothes. It's clear the team behind this understood almost nothing about what made RE2 work. The tension from that game is completely absent, the level design is unremarkable, and worst of all, Nemesis barely even registers as a threat outside of scripted sequences. This is not the remake you were hoping for.

A decent update of a game that never quite left a mark of its own in the first place. Much more linear and action-heavy than the (excellent) more recent games, with the titular Nemesis reduced to a few scripted sequences and boss fights rather than the constant lurking threat of the original. Still, this could have turned out a lot worse.

As someone with no nostalgia influenced connection with any of the entire series, this was my first time playing and completing a Resident Evil game and I truly enjoyed it. Of course, now knowing they cut an area or maybe even more, I do wish they'd included it as it did seem a bit on the shorter side, I finished it in about 5 hours and that was with me taking my time, not rushing through areas or objectives at all. But even with it's shorter runtime it managed to make me care about these characters and I hope to see these versions of them in future RE games.

Capcom en vez de ver que se podia mejorar de el anterior REmake decidio juntar todo lo que hicieron mal y que eso sea el platillo principal.

Scripts y Casi nula exploracion a pesar de ser que estamos en una aventura que recorre media ciudad.

Another masterpiece remake by Capcom!

First of all: I know this is a common complaint, and yes, it is short, but hey, the original one and 'Resident Evil 2' weren't that much longer, either, so I don't really see a problem with this. It's a fun return to a classic, but at the same time it manages to stay fresh and even enhance the 1999 version with some new directions.

Granted, it might not be as surprising as the 'RE2 Remake', and uses basically the same survival horror formula, but I think fans like myself will love it. There's horror, action, an exciting story, characters to cheer for, and a badass enemy following you around - pure, authentic RE experience!

Oh, and for the price you also get an asymmetrical-multiplayer mode with 'Resident Evil Resistance', so that's cool, I guess (I admit I haven't played it yet).

This is definitely more in the RE 4, 5, and 6 camp than a "survival horror" game but I think it's fantastic. I found the RE 2 remake to be slightly better (and much meatier) but I think this remake works super well. The action feels smooth and it looks great, especially the lighting. Nemesis is relentless and terrifying; if the Tyrant is the Terminator then Nemesis is the T-1000.

foi legal ter caminhado pelas ruas de raccoon com a jill de novo mas esse jogo poderia ter sido MUITO mais. capcom preguiçosa.

Another excellent remake of a classic Resident Evil game, delivering a potent blend of horror and action with pitch perfect pacing.

most of the complaints about this one have been said, it's short, has too little content etc. and i'd mostly agree with those complaints, but to its credit, i will say the second half of the game is a hell of a lot more engaging than the first. the hospital is some of the best RE has to offer, and nest 2, while brief, is arguably more engaging than nest in RE2R. despite my disappointments I had fun with this one

Teil nie so richtig gespielt hatte. Klare Empfehlung für Resi-Fans.

Gameplay wise it's a mixed bag in what it changes from the Resident Evil 2 remake, though I'd say it's still decent. The main issue comes from how poor a remake it is of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (which I'm admittedly not even a fan of, but still), and how the game is this perfect length of being too short to make a campaign feel meaningful but too long to make it easy to play in short, quick bursts.

The game is great, with great pacing, and the return of Jill is very welcome, but is also incredibly short. Encourages replays with its multitude of challenges, but ultimately disappointing given the opportunity to expand upon the original title were neglected. Fun for what it is, but dissappoining all the same.

After recently playing through the Resident Evil 2 remake, I was excited to move forward with the series with the remake of Resident Evil 3. RE2 blew away my expectations on all levels and RE3 is more of the same, but doesn't quite live up to it's predecessor. The game feels like an extension of the previous one, which wouldn't be a problem if it didn't only take me around 5 hours to complete. And since there is only one champaign to choose from, along with an online feature I will never use, I feel like there's alot missing here. Nemesis is a consistent thorn in your side for most of the game, appearing out of nowhere and undefinable and inescapable. This grew irritating and tiresome. His character models through out his evolution are excellent, though, as is the rest of the game. The monsters are gruesome and look great. A fun yet somewhat disappointing followup that leaves you wanting more.

Put it this way: if Resident Evil 2 remake was a tight, focused horror experience, then Resident Evil 3 remake is it's messy, confused little sister with a mix of action and survival horror, and a completely predictable narrative.

Did a hardcore S-rank run. Still a great game, yet not perfect.

There was a slight whiff of disappointment when I first finished this up, but I went back and played the original right afterwards and I dooooon't think it holds up at all (fascinating experiment though) and it made me appreciate just how smart of a remake it was. It's just a really tight, well-produced action game that largely falters because it's following up two of the best horror games of all time.

this is just the RE2 remake with less content

It's good, but for $60? That ain't worth it. Unless you're really curious, please wait for a discount. $60 for a 6-hour experience is inexcusable.

Great remake but disappointingly short.

Good, very good, but too damn short!

I've only watched someone play through the original and have never played it myself. I think this may be partly why I was not as disappointing with this one as others were. Still, it is pretty notable how much of a downgrade Nemesis in this game is compared to Mr. X in Resi 2 (2019). That being said, overall I still think is a pretty solid Resi experience, which is still a very good thing in my book.

I enjoy it more than the RE2Make. It has no illusions of being complex, its very linear, which is disappointing to be sure but at least the design is consistent and good the whole way through. Except the final boss. That thing sucks.

Picked this up on a sale and it was pretty fun. I like how it’s fast paced and your always changing locations. The graphics and music are so much better than RE2 remake also. The dodge mechanic is pretty fun and satisfying when you get it down. It has some bad aspects like the cut areas but it still has that great RE gameplay.

Way too short, but still one hell of a time! Great for speedrunning.

Another great game in Capcom's comeback tour. As someone who never touched the original I adored this game. Pure dumb action movie fun, I think it does turn into a bit of a slog in the middle but nothing overstays its welcome. I think that's demonstrated by the fact I played through it 6 times back to back for the platinum and still only clocked around 20 hours.

i don't know how to write a review for this game without saying something extremely sexual about Carlos so yeah
