So many hours spent grinding through all the levels, climbing up to A ranks and getting Chao materials. Game needed a few more Sonic/Shadow levels and they definitely could've cut down on some of those Tails/Eggman mech levels. And those two pointless car missions. Green Hill was NOT worth all that effort to unlock it.
GOOD GAME
One for the ages, some of my earliest memories in playing video games are with this one. To me, it will always be a timeless classic, something I can go back to anytime and have fun with. A personal favorite.
1/3 of the game isn't good, 1/6 is. Sonic is the only enjoyable time here because Shadow only has 4 lame as fuck levels and no bounce bracelet. Seriously, this game is awful.
I went back and forth on whether this deserved a full 4.0 until I remembered the Chao. Look, SA2 is buggy and flawed. We know. It's also genuinely fun and absolutely packed with content.

I'm still divided on parts of it but for the first proper structured story for the series it's not too bad
the story is a lot better than people give it credit for and goes into some surprisngly bold territory, but the game is ultimately sonic adventure 1's gameplay but with some weird design changes for the worse, extra points for the best chao garden.
I don't really like playing these games that much, for the most part, but I love pretty much everything else about them.

i think at this point it's difficult to say anything about this game that has not been said already. you likely already have an opinion that i will most likely be incapable of swaying if you're reading this. still, i think this game is the best 3D platformer of all time with one of the best OSTs to complement it. this is a game that i am incapable of talking about in any way approaching unbiased, so take that as the gigantic nod in its favor from me as you will.
also, i know it's an opinion, but i will never understand the vocal minority of people who love SA1 but hate this game. it's fucking bizarre to me.

Idk how they did it but Sonic Team managed to make everything about this game both amazing and shit at the same time. Overall it's pretty good.
