I mean what do you want me to say about this? Pretty much every issue I have with this game has been repeated and beaten to death by hundreds of other people who played it. The button mashy braindead combat with no thought or effort put into anything, the shallow baby's first tier platforming, the upgrades that barely do anything, the fact that this game repeatedly fails at basic exploration and game design, the boring (although well composed) orchestra music, the temple run sections that dip to 15 fps, the hub worlds with barely anyone in them to talk to and movement speed that caps out at a leisurely jog despite being a Sonic game, the HORRENDOUS optimization and numerous amounts of bugs and glitches. Let's be real here, this game never had any potential. It should've stayed in the rough draft stages forever before having the pleasure of being tossed into a fireplace to give out extra warmth for the ex Naughty Dog developers who were forced to make this. At least we got a genuinely good cartoon and comic series out of this.

This game bothers me because it could've been something really unique and interesting. Unfortunately a troubled development history, rushed release, and a shitty deal with Nintendo forced what was known as Sonic Synergy to be forced onto the Wii U, a console far too underpowered to handle what they planned for the game, resulting in the product being morphed into something quite different and quite worse.

While far from what I see about it being thrown around as one of the worst games of all time, it's really quite mediocre as a title, with very simple combat, exploration, and platforming, a general level of bugginess, and only a somewhat decent score.

What could've been a brand new avenue for Sonic and something genuinely advantageous for the franchise, opening up a secondary spinoff franchise with its own unique concepts and ideas developed largely by an outside studio, was essentially killed off due to the failure of it's big title. Truly sad. I hope one day we can see Sonic Synergy resurface one way or another.

Fuck you Sega, this is why we can't have nice things, how the fuck after two succesful games, and two "okay" ones you go "yeah maybe we should create sub-franchise that will kill Sonic for few another games, rushed it af as usual and release on the console that was already underperforming??? This is some galaxy brain shit lol

This game and its series is literally why Mania, Forces and TSR got such mediocre budgets and why we have the state of its series like it is.
But hey, you spend so much money on it that you decided to make another 2 games and a tv show that was somewhat succesful and you still lost like 150mln $, great job.
