23 years of maps and mods to play around with.
Updates over the years have genuinely pushed the goldsrc engine to new limits. There's an absolutely massive body of maps to go through, and a healthy selection of servers, both vanilla and modded, that you can experience these maps with.
The balance and pacing of a map is entirely up to a mapper's discretion, but there are many resources such as the sven coop map db that can assist in picking out decent maps. Being able to experience the half life campaigns with friends is amazing, and the modding capabilities have led to some truly outstanding experiences.

incredibly well made and still supported to this day. Community servers are always fun to hop on and play through some classic maps, and with a price tag of $0.00, why not give it a go

I set up a dedicated server just to play weird japanese maps with some friends, amazing experience

Especially worth playing the insane custom maps. Playing through the original half-life and it’s expansions was always a hell of an experience, especially when you get insta-gibbed by a glitched tram cart.

Very cool modified mechanics of movement and shooting, the game does not feel like Hafl-life 1, but cool in its own way + added a couple of co-op mechanics.

honestly i think valve's willingness to support this mod was one of the most important decisions in modern mod development. also its fun as fuck
Multiplayer Half-Life and its DLCs. The only thing bad about this is that its load times are kinda annoying and it can be tedious to setup a server. Also, there are alot of minigames, like STS, a tower-defense mode, and more, and it's free so you should get it right now.

fun and funny with friends but its pretty much half life multiplayer unless you wanna play the other stuff
In my 20 hours of blasting my way through black mesa with a group of friends I just could not stop laughing at how amazing Half Life becomes with a co op mod, while it has issues with servers I highly suggest anyone to pick up this free game and boot it up with some friends one night
