While I had played the previous Doom games, non of them really resonated with me the way DOOM 2016 did. It lead to me revisiting the prior entries and falling in love with them too, but this was my Doom.
Amazing level / combat design and a kick ass soundtrack that is just so incredibly fun.
One day, I will conquer you, Ultra-Nightmare difficulty.

Good game. Great mechanics. Forgot about the chainsaw and felt ammo starved towards the end. At some point, encounters started to feel tedious, and I ended up relying on a few weapons instead of utilizing tbe whole arsenal in each fight. I enjoyed the secrets, but it felt unbalanced b/c less experienced players will be less powerful and less skilled than the experienced players who know where each is or know how to find them better. However, this is mitigated by replayability and armor upgrades that promote discovery.
Doom (2016) singlehandedly revived the boomer shooter genre with it's dynamic and fun gameplay. But gameplay itself can't carry a game. I'm glad that the game is short because it was getting stale. While levels on Mars were pretty good and they weren't limited to a corridor but it felt like an open system where you can explore every room, even if it was below or above you. But levels in hell were so boring and uninspiring. At times, they were tedious to complete. Bosses come pretty late in the game and they are probably the weakest part of the game. They weren't memorable and they were easy enough for me to beat them in one life. Story is good, it serves that lone, badass warrior fantasy well.
Overall, Doom (2016) is a great game but it's getting stale towards the end. A must-play for every FPS fan.

DOOM 2016 is pure metal mayhem, and honestly, way more fun than I was expecting! You're the Doom Slayer, blasting demons with crazy guns, ripping them apart with gory finishers – it's brutal, fast, and the soundtrack is insane. It's pretty much all about shooting and moving, the story's barely there, but man, it feels freaking awesome to play. If you just want to turn your brain off and unleash your inner demon-slaying badass, this game delivers.
