Persona 5 is what would happen if Drake was manifested into a videogame. Persona 5 is the type of game where a main character would confront a main villain and say "this isn't like you." Persona 5 is the type of game where a character slaps his friend and says "that's for almost almost getting us killed!" Persona 5 is the type of game where the characters are looking at the news and say "you might wanna check this out". Persona 5 is the type of game that has really weird and gross behavior with hot 16 year olds. Persona 5 is the type of game to have the main characters split up at the end of the second act only to rejoin at the final fight with the main villain and say "you didn't really think we'd let you die, did you?" Persona 5 is the type of game to have an animated dance party sequence at the ending. It would do all of that without a hint of irony and believing itself to not be unintentionally hilarious.

Truly one of the greatest games I've played, learning to master the mix of social simulation and deep rpg dungeon crawling is such a satisfying loop. Making choices on whether to increase your stats or spend time with characters your interested in, there are so many possibilities. The story is engaging, the music and art are spectacular, it's hard not to recommend this game.

Story 10/10
Visuals 10/10
Difficulty 8/10

First Persona game. Great gameplay but after playing 3 it's hard to look at this game in comparison.

Persona 4 taught me to reach out to the truth.

But why do that when I can reach for my gun?

This is my favorite game because it let me pretend I have friends.

The best JRPG out there, hands down. I thought about this game for at least a year after I finished it.

First time playing a persona game. Not gonna lie great game, but way too long.

~120 hours later, I have finished my first playthrough of P5R. I have been obsessed with this game from the moment I picked it up - - so much so that I purposefully delayed the ending by putting the game down for a while.

I went from grimacing at Kamoshida to laughing at Ryuji’s jokes and crying at Joker’s “death”. Nothing made me laugh harder than Maruki and Joker punching each other over and over again, and then Mona turning into a helicopter. And then I cried while saying “goodbye” to everyone. This game is crazy. I love it.

These characters feel like family. WTF do I do now?? Of course, there’s Strikers and Tactica, both of which are on my list, but which Persona mainline game is worth playing next - P3 or P4? Any suggestions for other JRPGs that feel similar outside of the Persona franchise? My heart has a hole in it.

One of my all time favorite games. The story is very good, I've played the whole game 3 times through and I'm still finding neat little details! I love the way the game starts mid-story and then switches to the beginning, building up to what happened and then continuing on. You can tell they really put a lot into this game. Also, the voice acting is all so good! The characters have good individual stories, a couple could've used a little more work, but it's so cool how they come together despite their trauma and become best friends. And the music!!! (Chef kiss) I could go on and on about this game...

Made one of my favorite games better in almost every way

Jogaço of The Porra

(Also: P4 > p5 low diff)

Not the best story but it's a really great game.

Pues me aburrí pero nose me gustaba motomami Makoto

10 de 10, en si recomiendo toda la saga persona, son juegos increibles

Really loved this game.
Changed my perspective on the world and gave me the urge to change/ do something more.

Has one of my favourite characters in all media.

Now that I'm thinking abt it, this is kinda just anime Inception, no?

This game is so ass, the fact that its considered not just the greatest game of all time by people but has the greatest STORY IN FICTION is horrific. Characters are boring, villains are boring, Joker is a shallow protagonist with nothing going for him. Gameplay is turn based so already a major L. Music isnt even as good as people say it is. Just terrible.

slightly better than the vanilla only because they realized that about goro akechi exists but after that i really didn't care about anything new in this game nor was i attached to any of the new characters i genuinely believe people who call it the best jrpg of all time only say this due to its style more than what it has to offer in terms of characters and storytelling

The best Persona game easily. In terms of Characters, Gameplay, Dungeons/Palaces, Bosses, Soundtrack and Expansion.

P4 was lacking in Dungeon design which felt very straight forward and I wished they were longer.

P3 Characters were sooo overrated. Absolutely 0 chemistry between its cast within the first third of the game and it made it very difficult to be fixated within its story. I can’t stand Junpei.

P5 flaws seem pretty subjective. Whether it’s the overuse of dialogue (some people like heavy dialogue), or whether it was easier (still had the most unique gameplay) or because of how unintelligent the characters were being at times. I think the point is that they’re not meant to be an intelligent group. It’s a bunch of teens for crying out loud, ofc they lack critical thinking so they’re not as bright as SEES who’s pretty much lead by an adult in a completely different setting. But that’s kind of the point in which it advances its plot with how infuriating the characters can be. It’s the still the best plot with the urgent, rebellious tone that’s being played, it’s by far the easiest to become addicted to and it’s the most visually stunning. The Palaces are by far the best, Kamoshida right off the bat becomes something more complex with its design and puzzles than anything of the previous Persona 4. Yet I don’t even find Kamoshida’s palace to be top 3. Sae’s arc with Whims of Fate, Casino design and unpredictability is much more intriguing and gripping, Shido might be too long for some and has the mice puzzle, but Ark and the story that lead up to that point is extremely satisfying as well as the whole Ship design is underrated. Then you have Maruki’s palace, the pinnacle of the game and the newest due to the expansion. Talk about top tier Storytelling, Lore and Palace design. The whole game consists of far more unique boss fights and villains compared to the previous games. Kamoshida is dislikable, Madarame is dislikable, Kaneshiro is dislikable, Sae is a pain in the ass, Shido is the reason the game exists with his political ruling. Be serious, the other 2 games didn’t have the drive that P5 does.

I guess if I had a reasonable flaw with this game is how annoying it can be at times especially with repetitive dialogue (youth character issues) but let’s be honest, it’s nearly impossible not to become addicted with how rich and immersive the game is. Anyone who thinks to give a negative review are the same people who love to over exaggerate or are just simply put, trolls. There are also the ones who only played the Vanilla version, which is objectively more flawed with its pacing and final boss, something that Royal vastly improves upon as well as more attention to detail.

I only decided to give this game a shot because of Smash and because everyone and their grandma would not shut up about how good this game is. I'll say it again, I'm not a massive fan of RPGs (Even tho I have played a ton of them) or weeb shit, so I was expecting to like this one just fine and maybe drop it halfway through just for how long it is.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I beat this game twice.

I liked this game so much that I ended up replaying it almost immediately after beating it for the first time...I- I just don't know what to say...

I had previously attempted to play a Persona game, with Persona 4, but I barely played that and to be fair, I barely knew any english back then, so I wasn't really paying attention to the plot or the dialogue...Which are very important in these games. However, once I started playing this one, it easily managed to grab my attention in no time; it started as simple curiosity to see how the story would unfold, but the more and more I played, the more this game grabbed me by the balls and would not let me get my eyes off the screen.

Plain and simply, I absolutely fell in love with these characters, just enough for me to look past the typical RPG tropes and tedious grinding that annoy me so much. But the fact of the matter is that this game doesn't even suffer from that all that much, since the life sim aspect really helps to balance the dungeon crawling parts of the game, as well as the combat being designed in a way that you can skip entire fights just by exploiting enemy weaknesses.

I mean, you can actually skip fights altogether after you hang out with Ryuji enough times; even when you can't, the way this game presents everything makes every fight at least visually astonishing to see. This game oozes with personality and an unique visual style that I have never seen in an RPG.

Oh and yeah, hanging out with your friends, going to school and just mess around actually has an impact on the RPG side of the game, which I love so much. Suddenly leveling up and getting stronger doesn't entirely revolve around fighting the same enemy hundreds of times until the game tells me I have leveled up...Nah, me and my team can get better just by seeing what Yusuke is up to today!

My only real complaint with this game, that I can think of right now, is the fact that your teammates can die as many times as they want during fights, but if Joker dies once it is an instant game over. This caused me to lose so many fights, some of them near the end, simply because Joker was taken down and my teammates apparently could not revive him the same way I revive them or they revive each other.

It is also so stupid and so annoying to spend like 30 minutes trying to beat a boss, only to lose and having to repeat the whole thing again, because Joker suddenly felt like not dodging the attack and died. You can control every party member here, but wether or not they dodge or land a hit is still random, which I do not like.

Other than that, I love the different palaces and how unique they are, I love the music, I love the artstyle, the villains are not subtle but they are so much fun, Akechi never fails to crack me up...There is just so many things I love and I want to say about this game...But I think I've said enough.

5 Personas outta 5. Will probably replay again some day.

Ryuji is best bro and Kawamommy is my whole life ❤️❤️❤️

quite possibly the perfect JRPG and one of the best games of all time. flawless and obsessive, you’ll never play anything like it again.

About as perfect a persona game could be

It feels like, at least in my circles, that this game gets a lot of shit for things such as the writing quality dipping in points, the gameplay being far too easy, and the rigid structure of the calendar system. However, this game comes out to be greater than the sum of its parts, and it is a must play, even if later down the line you grow a little sour towards aspects of the experience.

This game had big shoes to fill because of how important Persona 4 was to younger me and I'm happy to say I really enjoyed my time with this game. The cast is probably my favorite part of the game and grew to love most of the Phantom Thieves by the end. Though I did not enjoy the Royal exclusive content the QoL provided otherwise is greatly appreciated.
