I'd recommend playing the PS2 originals over this if you can, but any version of Final Fantasy X is still Final Fantasy X

FFX was fantastic story-wise and combat-wise. FFX-2 combat didn't feel good, haven't beat it

Completed x but x-2 is just way too bad of a game, can't stand it.

So happy I finally got to finish this game! It was worth it! The combat system is still my favorite of the older FF games! Doesn't get a full 5 stars because I still hate those temple puzzles, but love everything else. A beautiful story and fun set of characters, and still looks pretty decent. Would love to see a remake of this one day like they did with FF7!

Biggest mistake of my life was starting FFX-2 immediately after finishing FFX because wow holy shit I went from crying to utter disbelief

What in yevon's name did they do to their poor faces...

The new character models completely ruin the tone of all the cutscenes -- the characters look lifeless and uncanny and no longer give the same emotional delivery that the og ones did. Even though this remaster has several graphical improvements that are pretty great (the environments for example), I believe that the face models and their animations completely ruin the experience as the emotional depth of the characters is completely lost. I highly recommend anyone interested in FFX to simply emulate the original ps2 games.

my rating is only for ffx, not x-2, as i didn't finish that game.

ffx is a game that is completely and utterly lost on me. though some people like it, i find the art "style" horrifically ugly, although i, somewhat controversially, like the character design-- i find it slots in extremely well into the world that's been created, which most (as i too) would agree is an excellent one. but aside from the general atmosphere of the game and the music, i don't like pretty much anything else. the graphics are atrocious, the characters range from boring to annoying, as a tales fan the story is completely and utterly unremarkable to me (i mean this with full sincerity, play tales of symphonia for a better version of this game in every single regard), unskippable blitzball sequences is a legit crime, the gameplay is EXTREMELY frustrating, the camera work is AWFUL, and the main draw of this game, the relationship between tidus and yuna, did not at ALL resonate with me.

again, play tales of symphonia for a better version of this game in literally every single regard. to illustrate what greater strides symphonia takes than this game, let me just say that ffx takes its entire runtime to tell a story that symphonia expresses in its first few hours.

as for x-2, i think people are unnecessarily shitty to it because it's a game with a female-only party. i played a little bit of it until the difficulty spiked really hard and i just didn't care enough to put up with it, but it was actually INSANELY fun. the job mechanic is both super stylish and super fun, and the game doesn't HAVE to be anything better than stylish and fun. y'know?

ffx was incredible! despite the fact that i struggled through it, had to keep adjusting my strats for the boss fights (thank u reddit gamers for the sick tips<3) and had to use my entire brain for the puzzles, i persevered and it ended up being such a wonderful experience & becoming one of my favourite games. also the ost is BEAUTIFUL so that’s always good

as for ffx-2 i don’t really have much to say, it felt a little unserious like some kind of goofy fanfic when you compare it to ffx but overall it was still enjoyable. the opening song slaps and i appreciated all of the cute outfits but can we talk about that massage scene because wtf

same as the ff X but the X-2 is great so i gave it a lil bit higher

I loved the original, and I loved this.
The Audio Dramas were kind of interesting. We usually don’t get those in the west.
I really like the arranged music track.
It’s one of the grandest, most sweeping FFs to ever FF. Kind of heart breaking, as most good FFs are.

I enjoyed this one much more than the original. Not much changed but my age, so perhaps it just aged really well. Have not played X-2 yet

FF X: This is one of the entries in the FF series that I've replayed the most. Great group of characters, fantastic storytelling, and the game doesn't take itself too seriously.

The HD version looks great, and while going for 100% completion was a bit of a grind, it was fun from start to finish.

While theres certainly aspects of both these games that have aged a little with time, this is certainly an amazing pack with a ton of stuff to do and see. Well worth getting for anyone with so much as a single JRPG itch that needs scratching.

I did briefly consider removing a star solely because the collection also includes the absolute garbagefire known as 'Final Fantasy X: Will' but decided against it. Basically just never touch it as its honestly an abomination that seems custom made to just ruin every single positive story beat from the games.

The HD Remaster of FFX contains the international version with the option to play with the more flexible Sphere Grid. It also contains the superbosses that didn't come in the original PS2 NA release: the Dark Aeons & Penance. For that alone, it was worth picking up.

It did introduce some lag in the menus though, which is frustrating... I also hated what they did to the character models in the graphical uplift. The character's faces look absolutely terrible... the PS2 version crazily enough still has the best models when compared to both the PS3 and PS4 remasters, which is sad.

The remixed music is nice, but the PS4 version is nicer, being that it gives you the option to switch between the original OST or the remixed/remastered version.

I can't speak to FFX-2... I intentionally left that unplayed after my dreadful experience with it on the PS2. I hate that game.

A must play for any RPG fan that likes turn-based combat.*
*I only played X, not X-2

The story and characters are amazing I love them all so much but for the love of god, Spider-Man and Superman PLEASE do not make an such awful endgame again I spent 8 OCHO HUIT HACHI months fir leveling up my characters and their fucking skill tree

original games are obviously great but jesus what did they do to the faces and the menus

Absolutely must play classic of the PS2 era of JRPGS. A legendary game collection with lots of fun moments, a great story, and fantastic gameplay. I have yet to play X-2 but I definitely will!

Terminei o 1 desde quando eu era pequeno, e foi incrível da mesma forma. Única coisa que me incomodava foi o demasiado grind para ver os conteúdos a mais embora isso tenha sido o de menos continuo o amando !

Second Favourite Game
Favourite Final Fantasy

fuck lightning and chocobo

She’s a little off. But we still love her

Solid remasters, but X-2 and Last Mission still don't really have a good narrative. Good gameplay in X-2, but Last Mission is really not fun to play. Final Fantasy X is nice to play again, but adds some additional optional and frankly obscenely difficult boss fights if you revisit certain areas. I prefer the original version because of this. So, it's a nice looking uprezzed port, with a nice optional soundtrack, but ultimately harder for no reason.

FF X-2: Probably among the weakest entries in the series. I didn't enjoy the overall theme of the game, the story (the ending doesn't help) nor the dressphere system.

That was beautiful, a well told story through and through, with some fun and heart breaking parts throughout.

Probably one of my favorite RPG mechanics so far that's utilized in a fun, but challenging way that keeps things smooth and easy to grasp. While the later half of the game gets evil with some of its bosses and enemies, I never really felt like I was road blocked since its moreso trial and error, as well as proper planning and grinding that was the key to getting though the game.

All in all, an amazing FF and RPG game as a whole. just...wow!

The definitive Final Fantasy in my mind. This is how all the games should operate and feel. Not X-2 though... never that...
