I'd give this 5 stars if the soundtrack wasn't so bland because I actually prefer this to Wooly World

How do you follow up the masterpiece that is Woolly World with... This?

The visuals are the only part of this game that's decent. And they're far lesser than wool.

The level design sucks, the backwards levels, while conceptually cool, are extremely boring, and I've practically never seen a game with collectibles that feel this tedious to collect. This game is a completionist's nightmare, not because of difficulty, but just tedium. I believe 6 playthroughs of every single level is the minimum requirement, but it's been a while at this point.

And for every single run of every single level for the entire game... You have a single, awful song grating against your ears the entire time. Yes... A single song. It's adaptive, at least, changing to fit the theme of the level... But come on...

One of very few Switch titles I actively regret buying, and every time I look at it on my shelf, I can only think, "Why didn't they just port Woolly World?"

The game is beautiful and has a couple of great ideas and its fair number of pretty good levels, but ultimately it just feels like a less inspired sequel to the great Wooly World.


I think this game gets too much hate ngl. Like, yeah I agree it’s not as good as its predecessor, but in no way do I think it’s bad like I see a lot of people say. The game is very easy, yeah, but there’s so much variety and so many cute gimmicks that I can’t help but enjoy! And the game’s visual style is also very nice! There’s a lot of creativity at play here. The only real things holding the game back for me are that it can get rather blurry visually at times, the difficulty is a bit on the easy side, and the music isn’t very good, but otherwise, I’m pleasantly surprised!

Prior to this marathon, Crafted World was the only Yoshi game I have never played, and I was a little worried for a bit cuz I've heard mixed things about this one. Thankfully though, I came out of this game really liking it! Outside of a couple things, such as the soundtrack being just kind of okay, as well as the game in general just being a BITCH to 100%, this is a great time. Super cute art style as well by the way, even if I still like Woolly World's more. Shoutout the the level where Yoshi gets stalked by a bunch of crazy axe murderers.

I have never been so torn on a game before until Yoshi's fucking Crafted World.

On one hand, I love the art direction and how the arts and crafts aesthetic plays into the levels but holy fucking shit the music is god-awful, like why do they play essentially the same shitty track over and over again but make it worse each time???

The gameplay is generally just okay, with the boss fights, especially the final boss, being pretty good. However, as expected the game can get agonisingly easy and extremely boring. I hate that the game forces you to replay levels to progress by making you go back and get more fucking smiley flowers, it just pads out the game and usually makes me appreciate the levels less.

Playing this with my little brother definitely made this a lot more tolerable but man, on a platform with a trillion other better 2D platformers on it there is no need to play this.

This game has one of the worst reputations of the switch library. Playing it, I was surprised to find a decent game inside. I enjoyed a lot about this adorable little adventure, but there are some issues that should not be ignored.

The bad? First off, The game is pretty slow in nature; Yoshi can't even sprint. He does more of a slightly faster stomp than any sort of run. Does it affect the game too heavily? Eh, not really, but if you're used to Mario then this game does feel significantly slower paced as you're playing it - feels like it can slog in some areas due to that.
Another thing I disliked about this game is just a personal pet peeve of mine, but I don't like when games feel like they are somewhat improved by turning on "the casual mode", as this feels like it's a punishment to the player for trying to make the game easier. The Mellow mode in this game helps you detect the smiley flowers in every level, which are necessary to progress. (You are allowed to miss some, though.) This should not be locked to the "casual" mode, as some of the flowers are decently well hidden, and the problem with this is that it punishes the player unnecessarily, and it could cause annoying and unneeded replays of levels just for a flower or 2 that you could probably STILL miss. None of the flowers are cryptic in any way, but I can see how players would gloss over some of them quite easily, and missing some of these more hidden flowers unnecessarily punishes the player.
The only other thing I found to really fall short in this title is the music. It's catchy, but so are diseases. It doesn't feel like the music changes almost at ALL during this game, and it's plain annoying. If you pay too much attention to what you're listening to, it'll make you want to rip your ears off. Besides that, I have nothing negative left to say about this one.

The good? Well, first off, this game is utterly adorable in its presentation. It reminds me a lot of Yoshi's Story on the N64, (which was also very cute) but it sets out to do far more than that game did. It's one of the Nintendo games made on the Unreal Engine, so it looks great as well! There's a lot of good to say about the level design, too. The levels in this game are very unique, and each one has some sort of different mechanic than the last. Despite them being unique, each level per world still feels like it fits the theme well enough. The creativity in this title is really out there, and I loved my time playing this game because of that. There are only a handful of flat out bad levels, maybe 3 or 4 total.
Contrary to popular belief, there's a LOT to do in this game, but hardly any of it is required to finish the game, so it's still quite casual friendly. (As Yoshi games should be.) This game is absolutely filled to the brim with content. Each level was designed twice, one to play normally, and then backwards after you beat it. (Yes, There's a unique gimmick for the backwards part of the level that does make it worth playing again) There's a TON of different costumes you can collect for your Yoshi, which I thought was really cool and added to the game's cute charm. Each level has red coins, and a challenge to finish it at full health. There's hidden secrets in every single level that you can go back and collect. Collectors and completionists could have a field day here.
One of the most important things I found during this game was that the bosses are absolutely immaculately designed. They were amazing!!! Each one is extremely different from the next, and there are a surprising amount of them. This game contained the boss design that I would expect from a 2D platformer. (Mario team take notes??) There's even boss challenges you unlock after beating the game, giving you incentive to go back and play them again.

Overall, I found this game to far succeed the value that most players gave it. I quite enjoyed my time with this game, and I do recommend giving this title a shot if you find yourself on the fence about it.

This has got to be the most average Nintendo game I've played. It's just kind of a sterile, uninteresting follow up to Yoshi's Island, just like all the other failed follow ups to that game.

Yoshi's Island on SNES has a unique charm as a one off game. The art and music are some of the best of that generation. But at this point I'm confident that nobody knows what made it great, and that includes me. Crafted World is a competent game on all fronts, but that's it. It's boring and the levels all just blur together into a grey pulp. It's hard to write a review for a game that's just boring and not really fun, so I won't stretch it out longer. Don't spend 60 dollars on this, and your kid would probably like a Mario or Kirby game better than this.

It’s truly a game.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, it just feels.. bland? To me, it feels like they tried recreating Woolly World without doing anything unique or interesting beyond its visual style. I feel like they could have done so much more with the craft aesthetic though. Oh well, if you ever just want to turn the brain off and play a game, this can be a good way to do just that.

Pretty fun game, but not as good as wooly world. Not much more to say. 4 1/2/5

There's something so comfy and pleasing about hunting down coins/flowers in this crafted world.

A charming and creative game that never reaches the highs of Woolly World. And such a disappointing OST.

a lot of missed potential with this one. they really leaned into the gymmick where you flip the level around in the trailers. they made it look so creative and full of personality when in the actual game its just a reverse mode where you look for poochys. the game itself while fun just isnt as good as woolly world which is kinda sad. still not bad though

Yoshi's Crafted World is a delightful collectathon platformer that emphasizes environmental context clues and secret finding. There's a real joy in poring over the gorgeous levels to find hidden secrets, but it is completely optional if you want to just platform your way to the credits. Completion times posted online vary from 8-40 hours, which shows just how much extra content there is for completionists.

My main gripe is with the difficulty. For most of the main game the platforming is borderline trivial for an experienced gamer. Then the secret levels spike considerably, but there's only a few of them and there's no gradual introduction of difficulty. Also the music is mostly inane, borderline irritating, unlike the funky bass hooks from Wooly World.

For young gamers and "Where's Waldo" fans, this game will be an absolute treasure. For the experienced Nintendo fan, it's a fun 8-10 hours. For deep platforming or higher difficulty cellings, look elsewhere.

Played a while back. Remember it being fun but forgettable

wolly world without the things that make it good

Yoshi's Crafted World (2019): Un plataformas demasiado simplón y fácil incluso si pretendes desbloquearlo todo. Aún así, es tan bonito que se te olvidan todos sus defectos, y te hace sentirte un niño mientras lo juegas. Sé que no soy su público objetivo, y aún así me gusta (7,35)

It's a very good game and the art style is incredibly creative but, the way the collectibles are handled is extremely boring, and also the soundtrack is really bad. After Wooly World I don't know how they listened to the songs and thought they were actually good enough to include in the game.

O jogo mais bonito que tem no Nintendo switch na minha opinião. Divertido, carismático, criativo e não é muito fácil(minha principal preocupação antes de decidir comprá-lo). Esse jogo me fez me atentar nos detalhes e apreciá-lo, é o tipo de jogo que você fica super satisfeito com o cuidado que tiveram com ele. A maior surpresa do ano(2023) pra mim é um dos melhores jogos de plataforma disponíveis no console.
