Such a good story and a perfect end to bungies reign

Yeah it's still a masterpiece.

A masterfully crafted experience

It is no secret that Pizza Tower has gained immense popularity since its release causing me to be genuinely curious about it. It’s not often a new indie title comes out that reaches this level of praise so of course I eventually had to sit down and play through it. With all that being said I can wholeheartedly say this game truly does deserve all the praise it was receiving and still is.

Charmful and fun

WIthin its first few moments this game made it very clear that there was an insane amount of love that was put into it. To explain, the art style is through the roof giving off a heavy 90s cartoon vibe that I adore. Thrown into the main menu you are greeted with a wonderful save file selection screen having Peppino sitting down on a chair. It was this very moment that already struck me because I found myself in awe of a damn select screen from its presentation to its music. Furthermore , the OST is amazing all the way through , there isn’t a single track I disliked. Tracking back to its art style I really cannot say enough how beautiful this game art is from its level design to its character and even some cutscenes. They really nailed the artstyle given the era they were going for.The game quickly settles in that it's going to be an amazing experience and amazing it truly was.

The gameplay

I didn’t really watch much of the game so my memory upon starting it was pretty hazy to say the least. Most I remember is that it was a platformer game so beyond that I was pretty much in the dark about how the levels work. First of all the game has a central idea in which you collect pizza ingredients each level which will earn you money. Furthermore, you need to earn enough money to buy the boss door on each floor so you will certainly want to go for the pizza ingredients on each level instead of skipping them all. On its surface it seems simple and a loop that could get boring however the game does a brilliant job making sure each level is vastly different then the last level. To explain , the game has a surprising amount of gimmicks however they are almost never overused as many levels are truly their own contained experience. I cannot stress enough how amazing this is as you will want to replay levels to go for S ranks or even P ranks and never get bored since each level was a blast to play through. Furthermore, the controls are tight and fluid making for some very fun and fast past movement very akin to Wario games. One aspect I was not expecting was the amount of references to this game like whole levels being based on game franchises which I won’t get into so you can experience it for yourself. Additionally , the game is pretty short but it isn’t an issue at all as the moment credits roll you will most likely throw yourself back into the tower to replay levels again.

In the end

I truly don’t have any complaints with this title. I really think it's a masterfully crafted experience that should be played by everyone, especially if you are a platforming fan. I hope this game gets put onto consoles so a whole new wave of fans can experience this title. I absolutely recommend this game at full price and I cannot wait for whatever else this dev team has cooking up because I will for sure be there day 1 to play it.

gotta love when a game makes backtracking fun

Average day as a Naples inhabitant

One of the most funny, creative and satisfying platformers for a while. Breakneck pace that never overstays it welcome and is 100% fun the whole time, regardless of whether your a speedrunner perfecting levels or a first time player.

Unironically better then how I thought it would be

the cdi games' cutscenes are why I'm an autist who says "DINNER" unprompted in voice calls with friends. Actually so glad that YTPs shaped my unsupervised internet access childhood and my humour.
