Despite all my rage
I'm still a gamer in a stage
And though you'd think I'd play more
My second life as a manwhore
Demands I do so less
And so, I acquiesce

Completely overhyped. Sad to be so disappointed by how contrived and one-note the story direction and writing was.
Save for right before the final few quests, everything that happens in the main story of this expansion is boring and unnecessary filler; you could literally cut out most of what happened between the end of stormblood to the beginning of endwalker without losing much at all. Unless I'm missing something as to why people supposedly love hanging out with random fairies with grating voices or crappy caricatures of late stage capitalism for hours upon hours on end.
On another note I was surprised to see how the main villain everyone seems to love so much isn't even an actual villain for most of the story, since he only really started being the main villain near the end of it. For 90% of the expansion he's just some quirky guy in the background trying to mess with you while you fall right into his incredibly predictable and avoidable plan. Frustration only begins to describe the missed potential.
Endwalker thankfully picked up the pieces and salvaged an excellent conclusion to the saga, but to have another expansion make up for the innumerable caveats of this one is just so aggravating. Thankfully out of all the expansions this is the only one that I don't like, so there's that at least.
