This game would be better if it had me in it probably

IT'S SUPER MARIO BROTHERS 2 BABYYYY GAME OF THE YEAR EVERY YEAR YEEEAAAHHHHHH

Minecraft is the definition of "comfort game." I've been playing it for so long now that it almost seems unfair to actually review it. If Mojang starts putting real work into it like they used to, I know this game will continue to thrive.

What would life be without the yearly Portal 2 playthrough? In my opinion, this game is Valve at their very best. The writing in this game is absolutely phenomenal; so much so that it still makes me laugh all these years later. I have all the puzzles memorized, but it just makes it all the more obvious how tightly designed every chamber is. An almost perfect game that's only held back by the fact that, haha Valve can't count to three.

Persona 5 Royal is such a hard game to rate. Is it better than the original? Worse? Both? Both. The QOL updates are nice, and the new portraits are great. The new music is pretty good, and I'm always down to spend more time with Akechi. The new characters are great, and the epilogue has some of my favorite moments. But the epilogue also has some of my least favorite moments. The ideas are good on paper, but between the fact that Kasumi was advertised as a party member but was only usable at the end, and the weird tacked-on nature of having an epilogue for this game in the first place definitely felt like there was some rushing going on behind the scenes. Of course, it's still Persona 5, and it's still an excellent game with fantastic music, an art style to die for, and charming characters, but it almost feels like Atlus could have left well enough alone with the original P5. I like egg boy though :)

Hollow Knight is what I would consider a masterpiece. The combat is tight and responsive, the charm system is intuitive and surprisingly nuanced, the art is downright gorgeous, the map design is so good that I still have it memorized, the lore is deep and intriguing, and the MUSIC. OH MY GOODNESS THE MUSIC. Never has a game surprised me more than this one. The easiest 10/10 I could ever possibly give.
