Kill The Past Ranked

jabroni is awesome idc

Fuck you Ken, your bike is mine.
Suda's ultimate masterpiece. The plot here is so dense that I could cut it with a knife, the music (Akira Yamaoka) makes me want to beat somebody up (in the best way possible), and the UI and just general vibe of the game is unmatched. I have genuinely never played anything like this before and I don't think I will ever get to experience something like this anytime soon. Lend me 50,000 yen.
Everything I said about The 25th Ward can also be applied here but to a slightly lesser extent. However, I do like the plot here just a tad more so...
Using gradients as the wall and floor textures is one of the coolest things ever and more games should do it! Also Smile is the best mission, no contest.
What a neat lil game to end off a neat lil series! Very happy that it continued TSA, as that was my fav NMH before I played this one. Combat here is so good, and I thoroughly enjoyed every boss fight. Thank you so much Suda for making another great game!
"Real men settle things with Sumo."
A really cool introspective piece about Suda's works and his journey through the gaming industry. Some stuff here really struck some chords with me and it was overall a great experience. "How do you not know the West Milky Way Hardcore Hole Brothers? Fuckin' amateur."
I personally like the denser stories that Suda has written in his previous works more than this but I really like the combat here. Super fun ideas and Masafumi Takada cooks again!
The only good bosses are ranks 4-2 and Mimmy with my favorite being Margaret. The rest of this game is not great! The only other good thing I can give this game is the music which largely slaps. But the rest of the game... Writing sucks for the most part and they insanely assassinate Shinobu's character and all of the women characters to be honest. All of the other bosses that I didnt list suck so much. Genuinely not even fun at some points. Overall, great moments but not a great game.
