While Sun/Moon are good games, the Ultra games were easily the most pointless of Pokemon's definitive editions. In some instances it made it worse, like with the Lillie story near its end. Or Ultra Necrozma, which design-wise is pretty cool and a notoriously difficult fight by Pokemon standards, the area it's encountered in was incredibly disappointing. It was definitely this game where Pokemon's decline in quality started to affect my perception of the series at that point.

I remember trying to convince my parents to buy me yet another Pokemon game bc "the Pokemon actually move isn't that cool?!" Which still holds true as visually Gen 5 is an absolute treat. In retrospect it's crazy to see how well this game and its sequel holds up as it's arguably Pokemon's peak as a game series.

This game could've been it. Joker's reveal at the Game Awards was probably the most hyped I had been for anything, and with Pyra/Mythra added later I had every character I wanted, hell it even had Minecraft Steve. But the awful innate input delay coupled with the horrendous online made it unplayable for me
