I'm at a loss for things to say about this game. It's just really boring. The combat is repetitive. Exploring usually leads to dead ends.

Turn-based combat isn't my favorite, but this was still a really enjoyable adventure with tons of humor, fun characters, great music, no grinding, lots of secrets to find, and beautifully detailed environments. My biggest gripe is that the UI is very generic and overly "modern"-looking.

This is a short, story rich, fully voice-acted game where you perform in plays, changing them each time based on what genres your current audience is interested in. It is a lovely game full of charm and humor. There is a ton of passion and heart put into it - you can see it in the characters, the story, the jokes, and the songs. This game took me back to doing theater in high school - it really captures how fun it is to improvise and perform with your friends, especially through little details like how they kept in flubbed voice lines where the actors stumble over words and start laughing.

Very cute physics-based puzzle game where you play as an alien doing various odd jobs for people. I love the artstyle and the silly characters and scenarios. You can use money you earn to buy hats for your character - some have different abilities, but I didn't bother trying them all and instead wore the cute little stuffed dog the whole time. Some levels towards the end of the game are frustrating. You can earn medals for completing bonus objectives in stages - the hints for the objectives are very small pictures, and I found some of them to be vague and cryptic. The soundtrack eventually became grating for me because almost all of it is different versions of the same song.

The best way I can describe this game is "unique". It's made almost entirely of stock assets, which gives it a distinct look and feel. It has a very silly and lighthearted mystery story told through text-to-speech reading from a group chat. The story has a few holes in it, but I still found it very entertaining.

The minigames are all very creative, and many were unlike anything I've seen before. A lot of them have unusual controls that are difficult but fun to master. My favorites were mitosis bowling and making applesauce. The only one I outright disliked was the outer space skateboarding one. My cats really enjoyed watching the eraser game and the mouse game.

I really enjoyed this game and I definitely recommend checking it out if you like absurd humor and WarioWare-esque weird minigames.

A game similar to picross with a very nice aesthetic. It's less of a puzzle game and more of a "zone out" game - not what I was looking for. Tiles will have a number on them, and you have to stitch that many tiles of the same color connected to that tile. Since you can only stitch rectangles and squares (and not all kinds of shapes, like in Piczle Lines and similar games), there are only so many different ways to solve a puzzle and they all pretty much feel the same. For example, when you see a 3, 5, or a 7, you know that can only be a straight line. This is why even the "brain twister" puzzles are very easy. The game tries to increase the difficulty with some puzzles that are very large, but as you are only given one small section of a puzzle to solve at a time, this doesn't add challenge - it only adds tedium.

I wanted to check this out since it inspired Undertale, one of my all-time favorite games. I'm sorry. I know there's an interesting story and lots of funny dialogue in here, but the inventory management is ridiculous and the slow walk speed combined with the slow combat was actually putting me to sleep.

I've loved Donkey Kong Country Returns since I was a kid and I really enjoyed finally playing through the original. The platforming is a lot of fun and the soundtrack is fantastic. The graphics also look great for the time. It is frustrating how the camera struggles to keep up with you and enemies can easily come in from off screen and kill you. The hitboxes are also wonky and the bosses are lame.

An interesting mascot platformer with puzzles after each level. The clay animal characters are very cute. The level design is strange and seems to have things scattered everywhere. It's the kind of design that makes me feel like I'm just looking at levels in a video game and not a cohesive world. I found the movement to be pretty fun, except in the underwater segments. The puzzles are a nice break from the platforming, but they become frustrating towards the end of the game. The music can be overly energetic and annoying at times.

The idea of raising Kaiju is a really fun one. Unfortunately, the gameplay just isn't for me. It's mostly watching animations while your monster's stats go up or down, and the battles involve a lot of waiting for your guts stat to refill so you can attack. The game also doesn't run well at times, and the dialogue is full of references I don't get to previous Monster Rancher games.

A relaxing and accessible exploration/puzzle game, and definitely a hidden gem. The world is full of details, adorable fantasy creatures, and fun distractions (such as minigames and playable instruments). The game's story is told with watercolor paintings and rhymes, which gives it a charming storybook feel. You can unlock lots of cute outfits to dress Skye the dragon in.

I recommend taking your time with this game and trying to find as many secrets and collectibles as you can - if you only do the main objectives, you may reach the credits in an hour or two. There is a "high contrast" filter meant for those with visual impairments, but it also helps with finding those last few collectibles you need. I do think the game would benefit from a mechanic that points you to collectibles you're missing as a last resort. There are no guides for this game, and I eventually gave up on 100% completing it after I flew around the map for twenty minutes and still couldn't find the last cactus I needed to bloom.

The game seemed to fall apart during the last level. I experienced two crashes and two instances of the game becoming so laggy that I had to restart it. The human characters are also a bit lacking in personality and uncanny valley-looking.

I don't understand why this is so immensely popular. It's cheap-looking and very unengaging. If I wanted to walk around in circles while unfitting music played, I could just put on headphones and go outside. Playing this makes me feel like I'm thinking about playing a video game.

A really enjoyable 2D platformer. The drill mechanic makes movement a ton of fun. I wasn't a big fan of the vehicle and gatling gun segments as I just wanted to get back to the drilling. The art and the music are great. I really appreciated the option to turn down the game's speed during sections I struggled with. The sticker mechanic is cute, but I wish there was a way to buy multiple stickers at once. The game is also shorter than I expected - I took my time looking for collectibles and finished it in ~3.5 hours. I hope they add more levels in the future as an update or DLC.

A real gem that quickly became one of my favorite Wii games. It’s all about exploring the ocean, and there are many different things to do, like discover hundreds of species of fish, search for treasure, take people on tours, curate exhibits in your own aquarium, and teach dolphins tricks. I find it very fun and relaxing to play. I also love the beautiful music and the interesting story.

This game was enjoyable for the most part, but I was pretty disappointed by it.

The environments have lots of variety and are fun to look at. Some of the abilities Peach can acquire are more fun than others. My favorites were the swordfighter and ninja levels, and my least favorites were the detective levels. The gameplay is overall pretty basic and clearly aimed at young kids. Every level contains a lot of cutscenes. The story in each play is more or less the same (the Theets are being harassed by the Sour Bunch and Peach saves them). It gets repetitive very quickly. The overall story also doesn't make much sense.

My biggest problem with the game is how annoying it is to try getting all of the collectibles. Many are easily missed and only give you once chance to get them, and there are many points of no return in every level. If you want to get a collectible you missed, you have to replay the whole level and watch all the cutscenes again. The game also runs surprisingly poorly with many framerate drops.

I don't think a new Nintendo game has ever fallen this short of my expectations, but I really should have lowered them since this was developed by the same people as the two most recent Yoshi games, which I wasn't a fan of.
