Hadn't played through Pokémon Black/White since it released 13 years ago. I always knew it was great but it was even better than I remembered. This really feels like the series at its riskiest, ditching so many things we were comfortable with at the time for a more linear region filled entirely with unfamiliar Pokémon, a much more involved story, and the best cast so far at the time. The series would continue to get more linear as it went on (until Legends: Arceus and Scarlet/Violet) and this was the start of it, but I didn't find Unova to be linear enough to a point it was detrimental, and the stakes for the story made it still feel like a grand adventure. I also stepped a bit outside my comfort zone with my team building and planning for this one. Had a great time and was very happy to revisit this game. It deserves all the praise it's received more and more of retroactively.
