Zamish completed Portal 2
Portal 2 manages to not only surpass its predecessor but become the best puzzle game of all time.

I really love Portal 2. Everything about this game is just peak realized in the form of digital entertainment. Everything has been improved from the last with larger chambers more innovative puzzles and new mechanics, but this is expected from a great sequel. What really pushes Portal 2 to the top is its storytelling and writing.

Every line of dialogue, each minute word is amazing. All of the characters come to life with amazing personalities and voice acting that make them feel like they're alive and not just in a game. The jokes hit when they come up, but the suspenseful lines can always change the mood of the entire scene when needed. I have never had a game where it feels like I could sit there and listen to each character converse until the end of time.

While the dialogue is amazing, it's also the environmental storytelling and environments that set the scene for the amazing story. All of the levels and locations in the game have some small details and secrets you can find that show what was happening or took place before you got there. From the decay of the chambers to the haunting writings on the walls, it's all on full display and gives you a feeling of mystery. The second act of the game puts this environmental factor into full power and sends it home making it my favourite part of the game.

Portal 2 almost ruined puzzle games for me and many others just because of how good it was. That feeling you get from completing each level and exploring the labs is just unmatched, and every other game that tries its hand at making something like Portal is overshadowed. Sadly, there'll probably never be another Portal game no matter how much I want there to be, but just having this game is more than enough and I'm glad that I get to call it my favourite game.

There's also a really really REALLY amazing multiplayer mode that adds several more hours of great 2 player puzzles that I tried playing with Rebao, but sadly he has fewer brain cells than the amount of spare change I have in my wallet :(
