>Black Souls 1: 4/5
>Black Souls 2: 5/5
--I'll just say that turning Lovecraftian entities into cute anime girls is something authors need to do more often.
On a more serious note, if you're a fan of Demon's Souls/Dark Souls/Bloodborne, dark fantasy as a whole, even darker twists on fairy tales (that are already generally quite dark), body and cosmic horror, visual novels; engaging, layered and gut-punching storytelling with an incredibly intricate lore, do yourself a favor and play both of these games. Now. The second game in particular is what I'd consider a masterpiece, no other word would define it.
Black Souls on the surface might seem like a eroge Dark Souls ripoff based on an overdone media trope, but it is so much more than that, reducing the games to that would not be doing all the passion and work clearly placed into it any justice. Play it.

Story, worldbuilding and characters are fantastic and beautifully crafted as expected from yet another entry of the Utawarerumono series; however the actual experience of playing it (gameplay loop, balancing and exploration) could use lots of improvements. Praying for the sequel.
