Excellent style, voice work, music, and overall presentation. But combat can be too easy once you get the hang of it. Eventually I just wanted to skip combat all together to just explore the world. Once I could not, I eventually stopped playing.

A great adventure game held back by some monotony. In terms of presentation it has solid writing, great voice acting and nicely stylised visuals really carrying out an endearing plot in a fantasticly creative world.

Combat is a fun hack and slash venture, which sadly could do with a bit more variety as you fight through the same enemies the entire second half of the game, in short not enough enemy or card variety to last out for as long as it did.

The world of random while fun to explore was at times a bit too samy and lacked a bit of flair to distinguish the environments , although I felt it improved with that throughout its latter half.

Some of the npcs had recycled models which killed off some of the immersion. The central characters stands out and compensates that issue in most regards.

Transitions from cutscenes felt shoddy and choppy(not sure if this is an issue outside of the switch version)

Aside from that i really had blast with this one and found the creativity and charm engaging enough to disregard its general flaws.

My concerns have come true:

The relationship and thus, the dialogues, are inconsistently written, sometimes authentically convincing, sometimes horrendously cheesy. The writing is just good enough to keep you going, though.

The worst part is the unnecessary addition of gameplay. It interrupts what drives players to keep going with tedious gameplay and combat. And while visually appealing at first, the environments are boringly generic and don’t even offer some kind of points of interest. At this rate, this game should’ve been a visual novel instead.

Its soundtrack is powerful and beautiful, but I feel like I won’t remember it in a few days.

I wanted to like this so badly because of Yu and Kay and the very strong first impression, but, leaving aside the exploration and movement, I just hated the stale, barely functioning gameplay loop and its manipulative resource collecting more and more with each passing minute, so I simply couldn't.

I like the romance. But aside from that, this game is just a pantomime.
