Games I Have Complicated Feelings On

Games like these are usually games that have aspects I really really adore but has other aspects which make me really sad that I cannot give it a high rating the other aspects deserve. There will be notes on all of these to explain context.

No Straight Roads
No Straight Roads
Pros:
Amazing characters (has some of my favourite character designs and art style in any video game), incredible soundtrack, great commentary on the music industry and interesting boss line up that is themed around a certain EDM genre.

Cons:
Switch version is quite wack in some areas, gameplay is a mixed bag, there are mechanics that shouldn't really exist and the ending left me confused.
No More Heroes
No More Heroes
Pros:
Outstanding and entertaining characters, simple but gripping story, amazing concept for a game, great with subtle and meta comedy, satisfying combat, one of the best boss line ups in any game I've played, memorable soundtrack and it reeks of punkish style.

Cons:
Some stages before a boss fight are quite boring, hard to read mini-map, the camera control is weird at times and the over world is quite dull and suffers from a lack of quality of life improvements.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
Pros:
Has my favourite video game soundtrack of all time, characters are great as usual (except for some), Rose Nasty is fun af to use, some stages/bosses are honestly as good if not better than the original game and handles the theme of revenge in a really interesting way.

Cons:
Shinobu's entire section, Million Gunman, a confusing story that makes more sense when thinking about it overtime but it doesn't flow that well, weird pacing, gameplay that works but doesn't, fat enemies that knock you over 24/7 and some baffling game design decisions.
Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter
Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter
Pros:
Aesthetic, music, graphics and gameplay is still as satisfying as the original, really good character interactions and an outstanding first world and second world.

Cons:
Some extremely stupid plot points, mixed bag of bosses, underwhelming progression and side content, starts strong but gets weaker overtime with only a decent third world and a mediocre final world.
Sonic Heroes
Sonic Heroes
Pros:
I am a sonic fan.

Cons:
Some really infuriating moments and forcing you to play the game 4 times is ew.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated
Pros:
New robot designs kick ass, some improvements over original (E.g. Kelp Forest lighting improvement), keeps the original's charm to an extent and I respect the fact THQ-N knew exact fan base behind this game.

Cons:
Unnecessary boss fight changes, various technical problems, bad multiplayer mode and the soundtrack doesn't fit the style of some areas like the original.
Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress 2
Pros:
I adore the world and the characters a lot, the gameplay is satisfying, the cartoony aesthetic is pleasing and TF2 SFM's on Youtube are still entertaining to this day.

Cons:
Trash community, isn't getting updated often and Valve sucks at handling this game nowadays.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Pros:
I like the gameplay, adding people to the various friend zones is satisfying and the story is pretty charming.

Cons:
Infuriating post game that is filled with 99 floor dungeons.
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
Octopath Traveler
Octopath Traveler
This is best left for a review since I have a lot to say about this.
Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time
Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time
Pros:
I love the different timelines, variety in the zombies, art style is poggers and the hype leading to different updates were the shit.

Cons:
EA.
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Pros:
Amazing concept, ironically and unironically hilarious, great claustrophobic atmosphere and stylish cutscenes.

Cons:
Some mysteries are bogus, awful protagonist, some really bland and annoying characters, couple exhibition dumps and sometimes insulting moments.
Skullgirls: 2nd Encore
Skullgirls: 2nd Encore
Pros:
Bonkers world with colourful characters (Big Band and Peacock are my particular favourites) and interesting lore.

Cons:
Aggregious character designs and animations that I still hate to this day. You can deflect criticism with "the main character / art designer director is female" all you want, they still knew exactly what they were doing and I don't know whether to cringe or tolerate it.
