I gave everything to get my dog back. I'd do it again right now.

Definitely a personal favorite of mine out of Midways 80s arcade lineup. The game is just so goddamn hectic with having to juggle counting shots to send the right number of beers and catching empty glasses while scanning the screen to course out the next plan of attack, it hits that ADHD multitasking brain real good. It definitely seems like there's an amount of luck to the game, as it seems like its entirely RNG how far a customer slides back and how quickly they finish their drinks, and that can just sometimes put you in a bad state where there's just too much going on to feasibly handle. But hey! It certainly gets me wanting to keep trying again and again to see what happens every run. If this is what actual bartending is like though imma start praying for every barkeep on earth out there. And also the ones in space too, apparently, as this game proves that even aliens need their fill of Bud.

If I ever see this at an arcade you know that's an on-sight play. I think there used to be an arcade around me that had this game, but they died a few years back...

imagine a world where arpg genre evolved from this instead of diablo 2

Zeliard took me about 7 days to finish. That is, with help of maps, and advice from other people. If you play this blind, expect to play for much, much longer. The game is incredibly good, however. Items and currency all feel very rewarding. Killing bosses is generally a huge accomplishment. In the later stages you might encounter some soft lock situations. It can be involving currency mainly, but also not having the right items. Overall this game is an absolute masterpiece.

After fiddling around with this game for less than 2 hours I can confidently say that anyone who thinks this is one of the worst games ever made has either
1. Never played another 2600 game in their life
2. Didn’t read the manual
Seriously y’all need to calm down about this one. Not that it’s perfect, obviously. Getting out of pits is easy with practice but sometimes you fall into one on a screen transition. Or the fact that humans will frequently walk onto the screen while you’re waiting for the timer and ruin your attempt. But it’s pretty ambitious for a 2600 game, and unfortunately it was a bit of a rush job. It didn’t crash the video game industry, Atari did by wasting money producing way more copies of this than anyone could reasonably sell. Give this one a chance (with a manual at your side) and you might actually have a little fun with it! But play Yars’ Revenge first. Or maybe just play that actually
