god i want to like this but the combat is so ass

decent but pacing is fucking abysmal

rather bad pacing, lots of awful handholding and plenty of very pointless filler content, and what do you get for suffering through this? the same exact formula they did better in 1998. the dungeons are more linear and less interesting, and they can only be done in one specific order for some reason. the combat system is the part that bugs me the most though, it had tons of potential for fun but they ruined it by making most of your abilities optional, so they had to design the enemies under the assumption that you have none of them. the game is also ugly. you can do desaturated realistic visuals with this level of hardware, resident evil 4 and shadow of colossus were from the same time period and they both look much nicer.
at least there was some nice music and some occasional fun combat sequences but overall it's very very disappointing and kind of solidified a lot of the negative design trends wind waker started. thank god botw ditched the zelda formula because nintendo is fuckin terrible at iterating on it.
it's not all bad, but i cannot recommend it to most people. there are much better games that do very similar things. just play OOT.
