The online discourse for this game is baffling. If I'd listened to the current consensus, then I would have avoided all but a handful of NES games, because they're apparently unfun, dated junk.

I decided to give the original Metroid a shot anyway, and I'm floored. This game is spectacular. Some of the music tracks are among the best I've ever heard. The atmosphere is as thick as butter. The world is enormous and labyrinthian. I felt a sense of vertigo uncovering side passage after side passage in areas I'd previously explored, realizing the map was at least double the size than I'd previously thought.

People are playing this game wrong. Don't use a guide, just read the manual. Be frustrated, and learn the game. This isn't a walk in the park. This is an expedition to a hostile alien fortress.

R.C. Pro-Am is probably more fun if you play it with other people, because by yourself, it's kinda just a big-old "alright".

It took me a bit to get adjusted to not just the controls, but also the perspective that this game is at.
After I did, I realized that many of the courses look too much like each other, and considering its arcade-like design, there is no ending, you just play until you get a game over.

That's fine and all, but besides the upgrade system, which is a cool idea, there's not much more to this game.

Good to pop in every once in a while for mindless fun.

It's great to see Princess Peach finally get the spotlight after roughly 20 years since the last game, with a different and unique approach. The game follows her in an adventure in which she assumes different theatrical roles in order to save the actors of each stage from the enemies, who have taken control over the entirety of the theatre and now it's up to Peach to come to the rescue (this time). Each play has different abilities and proposals to its adventures, creating a lot of variety in playstyle and the overall experience, you'll always get surprised by what the game has to offer. Many costumes are presented: ninja, cowboy, kung fu, baker, superhero, mermaid, and many others, with peach looking even more stunning one after another in my opinion. The game also allows you to custom the base outfit of peach by purchasing new dresses at the store using coins, making you feel like you're playing dress-up and having fun in general!.

The game, however, is fairly easy, it's clearly made for a younger demographic, but i don't think it makes it bad or anything. Having a game that is more relaxing and less based on skill level makes it a relief to play after a stressful day or after playing complex deep RPG. But of course, because of the lack of difficulty, the game is fairly quick to beat, with the main story lasting around 7-8 hours, which is concerning due to the $60 priceline. For more extended playtime, it's highly recommended to 100% the game, which can be a very fun trip, considering that getting all collectibles also isn't very hard, so it should feel like a breezy fulfilling experience.

Overall it's a cute pleasant experience, that you should give a try.

9 year old me was shocked when i combined human + human.

Played on and off since I was a kid, my favorite MMO and it probably always will be. Most recently began again on Steam and play it as a relaxing de-stresser and it works wonders. Middle Earth is gorgeous, lovingly crafted, the quests while simple are just the perfect LOTR hero fantasy, the distinct races and beginning locations help switch things up too, and there are some memorable highs here, especially in expansions.

Playtime here is just the Steam version, many more hours were spent by younger me on this game.

This is one of those cozy games I dip in and out of.

disney dreamlight valley just has too much going on. every time i try to get back into it, i'm immediately overwhelmed. at first i really liked that there was always something to do but now it's like, okay... why is there always so much to do?

Simply put, one of the most enjoyable video game adventures ever. While certainly janky in a modern context, if you enjoy strong location-based storytelling, you cannot go wrong with KOTOR. Just make sure you play it on the appropriate system. While I had a good enough time on Switch, its performance issues were not good, lol. But the Star Wars RPG format here is like, so much fun lol. And the storytelling on each of these planets is great too. And Taris is one of my absolute favorite opening sections in any video game. Pure RPG heaven.

I shouldn’t like this game. It’s a grindfest, there’s no rolling HP meter, and the dungeons are unnecessarily gigantic. It’s so archaic nobody in their right mind will play the official release all the way through. Hell, I put it down for a while before completion.

You know what though? Sometimes rough edges are part of the appeal. Even with the grinding, I found Mother to be a snappy and enjoyable experience. What takes one hour in this game takes two in the sequels and four in most other JRPGs. The rich music transcends the hardware limitations, delivering feelings ranging from whimsical adventure to creeping horror. This is a case where the 8-bit presentation enhances the experience. Exploring towns full of tiny, yet wacky character sprites, battling psychotic normalities against a black void, and getting lost in mazes of gray would have hit much less hard if there wasn’t so much open to interpretation.

Mother is a masterful use of crude graphics, empty space, and tonal shifts to turn the player into a kid wandering the unknown. I strongly disagree with the notion it’s not worth playing. EarthBound and Mother 3 are undoubtedly better balanced games and worth experiencing in their own right, but just like remodeling a 30-year old house, there was as much lost as there was gained during the transition.
