What's the appeal of SPM for you? I just couldn't stand it.
I'm yet to play more Mario RPG's. I've played only the first five of your list and I'd consider TOK the best.

SPM story and creativity goes some really crazy moments. It was like TTYD and all it's subversiveness being pushed harder and more postmodern. Later Mario games pushed back against having complicated and thought out narratives after that one

And featured more typical Mario narratives, which is an approach I'm not a fan of. I also enjoyed the breezy and interesting rpg platformer hybrid gameplay of SPM, it was a breath of fresh air from the normal turnbased stuff. I love the chapters you go into space or when you end up in hell (game over world) or the horror mansion area and the gamer dudes castle. good stuff
