When I decided to get this games’ platinum I was pretty pumped to say the least; this was because I have the fondest memories of it when I was a kid. Despite the overall score I’ve given it, this game has some really great aspects to it which make it shine, but it’s also got some real flaws especially looking back. The best part about this game is easily its combat. The only thing I have against the combat is that it can get a little repetitive as it feels a little lacklustre in terms of moves you can pull off, etc. The game also has some really fun missions which are bound to keep you entertained right up until the end credits. On the flip side though, the controls for both the driving and the shooting are laughably bad at times. The graphics are really weak (which I don’t really care about personally, but I’ve got to mention it), and I also found the story to be fine - nothing more, nothing less. I feel like I’ve seen this story played out time and time again and like I said, it was fine, but it wasn’t nothing new and I didn’t really care for any of the characters as well. With all of this being said, you do have to remember that only 120 people made this game so you’ve really got to give your props because they did a really good job, all things considered.

7/10 - a flawed, but fun game.

Let me just start this shit off by saying that I don’t have the same nostalgic love for this game as many others do. I played it when I was younger don’t get me wrong, but even then I wasn’t a fan of it. I’ll be totally honest… this shit stunk. If you’re going to be playing this game casually, then it’s okay, but my journey to get this games’ platinum trophy was ROUGH. The levels and all the characters were cool and I like how the game tried to take an original spin on things with its story, but after I finished the story it was pure misery. The open world was just boredom, playing through every single level just to get the mini kits was fucking painful, and it just emphasised how empty of a game this felt tonally outside of the main levels. I got super worried that I wasn’t going to be able to get the plat for this as one of my mini kits glitched and wouldn’t allow me to view one of the Deadpool comics which I would’ve been PISSED at because it would’ve been 33 hours of my life completely wasted, but thankfully I was still able to get it. The games also got some shit voice acting too. Look, I know this is a fan favourite, but I absolutely despised it and because of this game I don’t think I’m ever going to replay a LEGO game ever again.

5.2/10 - cool missions and characters, but pure misery outside of those.

So I’ve just managed to get this game’s platinum trophy and I have to say… I’m a little conflicted. On one hand, the game itself was solid! Sure, the story wasn’t really anything special and the characters are quite forgettable, but it was still a fun time nonetheless. On the other hand though, going for this games platinum was damn near miserable. There’s multiple different endings and in order to get the platinum you need to play through each individual ending and all of these missions are so fucking obnoxiously long. Not only that, but I don’t really think any of the endings are that good? I don’t know, the game was fun for the first like 30 or so hours, but I can say without a shadow of doubt if you’re going for the plat trophy then you’re going to get sick of this game reeeeaaaal quick.
