about you games

through a long game of telephone i got this through https://backloggd.com/u/01156/ so now i'm doing it!!! whee!!

omitted "guilty pleasure" because i don't buy into the idea of feeling guilty for liking a video game.

FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME:
yeah no changes here. Incredibly fluid gameplay, beautiful art direction, diabolical challenges and some of the smoothest animations ever put in an action game.
RUNNER UP - Thief: The Dark Project
FAVORITE SERIES: This is kind of tough to pick because everything after Chronicles sinewaves aggressively between "hideous" and "mediocre." But the classic Tomb Raider games are my ideal platforming experience.
RUNNER-UP: Panzer Dragoon
BEST SOUNDTRACK: No contest. This game got me into making music, sampling, studying music and trying to understand how songs come together. The emotional peaks of this thing are heavenly.
RUNNER-UP: Sonic Adventure 2 ;)
FAVORITE PROTAGONIST: Garrett is so incredibly entertaining, and having him be the catalyst for the plot due to his bull-headed "My way is the right way" ideals is just M'WAH PERFECTO. Plus his voice acting, my goodness.
RUNNER-UP: Squall Leonheart
FAVORITE VILLAIN: Shodan. Okay, this is such an easy pick I almost didn't make it. It's Shodan!! She is written, voice-acted, and presented with such mastery that it defies belief you could pick anything else.
RUNNER-UP: Sephiroth because he is also an easy all-time classic pick.
BEST STORY: FF8, but I could have picked Final Fantasy VII as well. Ultimately it's my undying love for Squall and Rinoa that pushes me over the edge here.
RUNNER-UP: Marathon
YOU LOVE EVERYONE HATES: You are all being MEAN.
YOU HATE EVERYONE LOVES: This one is kind of a cop-out because I don't see people throwing Dead Rising 2 parades at Dead Rising 2 Con, but I still think this game is a Dog's Poop.
BEST ART STYLE: My beloved friend Rathest's favorite game, sharing his love for this artwork and experiencing it with him is unfortunately something I'll never get again, but I'm glad I got it in the first place.
FAVORITE ENDING: After battling through a truly alien world that is nearly inhospitable to all life, you battle a bizarre God who seems to speak cryptically, to a mysterious meeting with a government man. I really think this gets underrated as one of the best endings ever.
RUNNER-UP: Final Fantasy VIII. When he smiles....
FAVORITE BOSS: Nicchae/Ishtaros. The best fight in this game but only if you are playing on the harder difficulties, so it goes. An incredible challenge of reflexes, timing and skill, with devastating punishes, this is a real test of your skills.
RUNNER-UP: Guardian Dragon from Panzer Dragoon II
CHILDHOOD GAME: moving along quickly
RELAXING GAME: Ahh, sometimes you just want to kick back and jump all over stuff.
STRESSFUL GAME: This is a non-fucking-stop haunted house, you are always having new and more unfortunate problems dropped on your lap and it's so easy to burn through supplies.
RUNNER-UP: Pathologic
ALWAYS COME BACK TO: No matter how many times I've played through Half Life, which at this point is more than I've probably done anything on this planet, I always am in awe of its design and pacing. Truly, how did they do it.
RUNNER-UP: Deus Ex
TONS OF HOURS PLAYED: A game that lets you live out the ultimate power fantasy: looking good in a duster.
RUNNER-UP: Nioh
