if you're looking to get a taste of the community experience, there are community servers that are pretty easy to connect to if you're playing through emulation. from what I understand, you can connect on an actual PS3 as well if you're willing to figure out homebrew. obviously it's not the same full experience that the official servers would've given, but a lot of levels have been preserved and they maintain a somewhat active community. I think Beacon is the most popular one? I think it's well worth trying out if you enjoyed the game.

also yeah it goes without saying that lbp 2 is incredible and maybe surpasses this one in a lot of aspects but be sure to also check out Dreams on the PS4 if you have the chance! it's made by the same developers, and in my opinion it does a better job of carrying on the little big planet mission statement than the 3rd game did. it doesn't have a campaign in the same way but it does have plenty of official levels from the devs that carry on the same level of charm and creativity. plus the servers are still up, so there's tons of great community content!
