This remaster truly fixes a lot of the annoyances I had with this game.
Graphically I am impressed, this game really did have a fantastic artstyle that was hidden by the Wii being underpowered and now it looks so good on the switch.
The free camera is a game changer. All of the small annoyances and frustrating moments due to the camera are gone. Makes the game have a better pace and feel way better.
The motion controls being optional helps out a ton too. Their frustrating aspect are gone but the button controls keep the uniqueness of that controlling scheme, and ensure it’s still extremely fun to control. Also 60fps is just awesome, and this game benefits from it.
Took me 35 hours to finish while being a Zelda veteran, dungeons are great, unique but a tad too easy for my liking. They’re still extremely fun and so unique. They use the different items very well.
The story is amazing and the best in the series. It’s emotional, deep and engaging. The music is also fantastic but that’s expected from Zelda.
While the game is great, it falls on some aspects. I think the game lacks ambition with its world and concepts. It stays conservative for a longtime fan and doesn’t try to be unique. Sticks to every Zelda trope which is fine, but post BOTW, feels outdated.
I also think the overworld is just not good. Too bland and lacks anything to make it all that fun. Just felt like a place of passage. Some meh level design in it.
The concepts are so cool but don’t far enough. For example the timeshift stones and some items. They just didn’t do enough, and didn’t fully explore their potential. I would have loved to see what the timeshift concept pushed more.
Overall it’s a great game and extremely accessible for newcomers especially post BOTW.
I highly recommend it.
