I hope I’m not clouded by nostalgia when I think of Tomodachi Life, but I can’t talk about this game without talking about the feeling of opening my 3DS in the car on the way to school. In a rush of adrenaline to get to those pink windows, I’d quickly collect coins at the fountain before trying to quickly set two Miis up together before the bell rang for class.

As a kid, this game gave me something to look forward to every morning, and the comedy of it only grew with me watching Vinny’s playthrough. Nintendo Switch Pro when?

2020

Omori came out during a weird part of my life and I’m thankful I had this game to look forward to playing when I had rainy days. It’s a beautiful and heart wrenching game, but Omori is the kind of game where you root for the main character’s happy ending. At first glance this game may seem depressing, but I really feel it’s a hopeful game. The beautiful artistry and music is what takes this game to the next level. A definite favorite.

THE BEST HARVEST MOON GAME.

The rivalry system really makes this game feel alive. Every family and person feels connected. The kids are unique and meaningful, and having a family doesn’t feel unnecessary and makes the game so much better.

A bit slow-paced at times, and the only way I really enjoy playing it is on an emulator. This title is a perfect fit for a remake, especially after seeing how the AWL remake turned out.

If you’re going to play an arcade-style game, you will play Peggle. I found this game purely by chance and was intrigued by its lush colors and simple design. Each character feels unique and new (…although some may argue otherwise. I beg to differ!) I completed a significant amount of the challenge levels with Jimmy Lightning, who I know some think is one of the weaker characters, but depending on the level he can easily wipe an entire board of pegs.

The lore is quite intriguing, too— why is there a university? Why are there pegs? But when you suspend your disbelief and take in the context of the world, you realize the artistry that is required to become a grandmaster.

The feeling of getting the “Peggle Grandmaster” certificate was a feeling of accomplishment that I found comparable to winning a sport. I only wish I could go back to the day I opened the game for the first time and heard the music swell as I pressed play. Jimmy Lightning forever ❤️

I played Ib when I was 8 or 9 and I’m pretty sure this is the game that sparked my love for both JRPGs and horror.

Games like Ib break the horror genre down to its simplest form. How can you be scared of a pixel horror game? The artistry speaks for itself; really the graphics are just the blueprint and the tension and story take it away in your mind.

Beautiful, scary, sad. I love the setting of the museum and I’d love to see games explore thenes like Ib.

Harvest Moon was one of the first game series I’ve ever played. Animal Parade continues to be one of my favorite games of all time. Ape really made a stellar love letter to the franchise and essentially revived an entire genre of farming games. I could play this game over and over. Such an inspiration.

I hope there are more games with this kind of gameplay soon. The art, music, everything… ❤️

Selphia’s been on my mind lately.

I love this game. This was one of the first RPGs I found memorable where I was actually like, fully aware of what I was doing and what was going on.

Kiel was the first guy I romanced in this game and I think the first guy I ever officially romanced in a game period. I always got too focused on farming or was bad at giving gifts in Harvest Moon titles. I remember seeing Kiel’s name turn pink for the first time and pre-teen me was OVER THE MOON lol.

The combat is fun and easy to get a hold on. I found the difficulty for this game perfect in all honesty, but I think this is also subjective of my skill level when I played most of it in 2013/2014.

I talked about romance briefly but I think I like the characters in this game more than I like the characters in other farm sim/rpgs. The group convos are fun to jump in on.

You play as a princess, fight monsters, farm, and help out a dragon. Chefs kiss

Eerie. Melancholy.

I like the moments when the game slows down, where its just you, the campfire, and the music. I definitely see elements from Undertale in the save areas, which adds a really nice change of pace amongst the chaos.

The story is unique. I kind of expected the twist but that doesn't mean it's a bad twist. Cliche can be good. This game is awesome.

I just wish there was more!!!!!!!

This game was such a fresh addition to the Layton series with some really interesting elements of gameplay from games like Ace Attorney or even Danganronpa. Lucy and Alfendi are such great characters and work really well off of each other, and I hope that they do something with them again soon. I’ll always remember how tense I felt during that last chapter. Chills!

As a Disneyland fanatic, this game was made for me. Themed attractions are one of my passions that one day I hope I can explore, and this game is just inspiration upon inspiration. The world feels so expansive. Ah I love it.

I love Yoko Shimomura and her and her work continue to inspire me as a woman. I remember hearing the music in Neverland for the first time and tearing up. Can’t sing enough praises of this game other than the gummi ships. I still get scared thinking about it. I don’t know how to build them and I’m scared to learn. I need to figure out how to play the next game in the series. So. Many. Games.

I played this on my phone during my first semester of college every night for a couple weeks and I had maybe four hours of game time in total. I love the idea for this game and I love other imagine games. A few of the characters are lovable and memorable, but I can’t say the same about the British guy I romanced. I enjoyed this game and liked doing makeup, but I also think the ending was super rushed.

GOODNESS GRACIOUS

I found this game because I kept rolling characters from this game on Mudae. I am SO glad that I played this game. I can’t believe it’s FULLY VOICE ACTED!! Every character is unique, and I feel like there was care put into each one individually.

There is something so special about this game, how it subverts expectations, and reveals a much deeper theme than what was first on the surface.

WOWOWOWOWOW please play this game. If you’re a fan of other Spike Chunsoft games, you will LOVE AI.

Moma FTW!!!!!

I love being a swashbuckler!!!!

This is a game I wish I had when I was little and super into pirates. I haven’t grown out of my pirate phase and I’m very thankful lol.

I like that everyone has the same weapons, the same ship types, etc. so that it’s really dependent on skill if you’re into PvP.

I’m still not that far into the game progression-wise, I just like to mess around with my friends and go on quests and raid stuff. Top tier pillaging.

I got this game a couple days ago. I love these weird almost spin-off sims games. I’m really bad at building in any Sims game, so only having to decorate areas was really cool because it got rid of my choice paralysis lol.

It doesn’t run as well on newer computers, and it really struggles on my Windows 11 laptop. My PC running Windows 10 takes it fine. I had to edit one of the config files to make it recognize my graphics card, and even then there’s still some stuttering. If you’re able to fix it up though it’s quite an enjoyable sims experience!
