In which I say something nice about games I don't like

Even the most worthless pieces of garbage must have at least something going for them, you know. Main rule is no backhanded compliments. You can find the opposite here.

Some really good escape rooms — the Biotope Garden is my favourite in the franchise —, and while the cast can be hit or miss, I really like Luna and Quark.
I love Kanji. Hanging out with him was a joy. Forget Yosuke route, I wanted a Kanji route!!!!
Willem Dafoe.
I like the customisation options (and the ability to make images from your PC into paintings). Also like that they added horses for no reason.
Case 2 is one of my favourites in the entire franchise, which is really funny considering no one else likes it. This game also features the best executions in the series, possibly the closest they have ever gotten to recreating the shock and dread of the very first one.
The cast's best characters easily outshine DRA's best characters, imo. Yoruko is a fantastic supporting character, and the lesbian overtones of her interactions with Sora are delightful. I also adore the post-trial in Case 4.
I like Jena.
Locksley is great. I also appreciate letting me name my team, because I made the acronym for it "ASS" and it was really funny.
It's structured like a playable Peppa Pig episode, which is great for its target audience. Also unrelated to the game itself, but watching lilsimsie's total meltdown while playing this was really funny.
Fixes the sloggish pace of the original game. You can also make a furry version of your own family! Cute.
The character design is great, as expected from take-san, and the plot beats involving Vanilla and Aniki are genuinely good. I also thought Chuko was really funny — just an unabashed little hater.
Exploring is really fun. Plus, with such a large cast of characters, there's bound to be some good ones in there — and to me, these are Itto, Beidou, Kokomi and Yoimiya.
I'll be treating things from Yakuza 1 as being from here, because that's the one I played, baby!

- Introduced Makoto Date to the world, doing us a great service.
- Shinji, Reina and Haruka were all great.
- Majima Everywhere is a very fun mode (and a great selling point).
- I love the storytelling weaved into the gameplay, where Kiryu has rusted with time and you gotta get him back to action via the skill tree.
- Big shoutout to the sapphic hostess.
I like Hana. Dynamic intro for Tanimura's final boss was pretty good.
There was Muse in it. I love Muse.
The character of Mat is refreshing for the premise. I like having someone on my side I'm not expected to romantically pursue.
Mega Evolutions remain undefeated as the best gimmick they've ever come up with. Fairy type owns, too.
Infernape is perhaps their best Fire-type starter to date.
The minigames were really great (whereas I'd never engaged with the Sinnoh Underground originally, I poured endless hours into the stuff here), as were the cute little outfits you could give Dawn. I also actually really liked the diorama style and found it very charming.
they put a butch in a danganronpa-adjacent game. komatsuzaki take fucking notes
Presents an interesting commentary on the nature of dating sims with its twist. The off-kilter writing can be incredibly funny at times (especially the Okuhiko sleeptalking segments).
