This is the third game in the series I’ve played now and I’ve come to realize these games really resonate with me, even though all three have been quite different than each other. Seven Sirens is a true Metroidvania, even more than Pirate’s Curse was, and while the settings aren’t particularly unique after a while it’s still a satisfying gameplay loop. I love the different transformation powers and dances you learn, and the combat is just complex enough with items and upgrades that it never got stale for me. The plot is light and fun, I really enjoy the world of Shantae and all the mainstays are here once again. You also get to learn a bit more about the genies and meet more half genies, and of course unravel the mystery of the sirens.

Part stealth sniping game, part mindless killing rampage 3rd person shooter. Good time in coop and the sniping mechanics are fun, some cool levels mixed in with some dull ones. The axis invasion is a fun touch though, having a random person join trying to assassinate you provided the most fun moments.

If you are a fan of 2D Sonic games this is right up your alley. It captures the speed of those classic Sonic games while adding in a weapon/transformation system like Kirby that makes the light combat and boss fights more fun. There is also a lot of entertaining setting, enemy, and obstacle variety throughout the 15 stages.

Pros: Pac-Man controls really well and has a fun move set, the roll and bounce moves are very satisfying to use. There are also some really cool levels like sliding down a mountain or rollerblading on a haunted collapsing dock. The hidden pac-man arcade style levels are a nice touch.
Cons: Levels feel a bit barren and have some weird design choices. Why do you fight the same boss 3 out of the 6 times? Why do so many of the levels involve just doing the same section of the level multiple times forward, backwards, then forward again? Why did they make 4 straight levels of on rail underwater levels?
I think there is enough good here that I would play Pac Man World 2 Repac if that ever comes out cause I could see myself liking this a lot more with more modern polish and some changes.

I didn’t play a ton of the first game but I can tell this is a big step up. The presentation is a whole lot better with the addition of the voices, and I really enjoy the roster (though of course we can all name tons more characters we would want added). I’m not a fighting game expert by any stretch, but the character platform fighter is a genre I enjoy dabbling with quite a bit in at least a surface level way, and there is a lot to enjoy for people like me. There is the usual ladder campaign for each fighter, as well as a campaign mode which is where I spent most of my time. This is a rogue like mode but very light on those elements, it has upgrades in the runs as well as some that transfer between. It is a little repetitive, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th runs out of the 5 required are exactly the same which is lame, but it does feel satisfying to play after you get a few permanent upgrades. I haven’t played online much (I know I would get destroyed) but I found this to be a solid game I would gladly put on when I have friends over just to mess around in.
